I feel Shape of a Woman sounds like a Mayhem reject but could easily replace TDD or KFL and not affect quality. Its neither worse or bad, but I Its just not elevating the sound and in my opinion, I would like to leave the funky disco sound on the Mayhem era. The second half of Mayhem is already too heavy on this genre and its like all the real experimentation sound wize windled down after the first half. Now that everything that has come out and the album cycle is over, its just beating a dead horse.

I appreciate it so much that Gaga is giving us content even after the album cycle and tour are over, so that is always a good thing. In the end these are just cute little songs that serve their purpose well enough and I dont consider them a serious part of the Gaga canon.

Glamorous Life tho, she ate hard

cus it's comes nowhere close to her solo music

mayhem was a very strong body of work and Runway would be a very mediocre follow up when we know she can do better

but for a comedy movie soundtrack about fashion, it fits the bill so its no biggie

I agree 10000000%.

The songs are cute and fine for what they are meant to do. If anything I kinda respect that Gaga always understands the assignment when she is recruited for any side project. These songs work incredibly well for the film and thats what they were made for.

If people understood this and contextualized it they would not be so miserable all the time.

Almost, if not all sountrack songs from Gaga, have never been intimately part of her own solo catalogue except for Shallow. And even then they are all sonically different. I do think that Gaga upholds her solo stuff to a more rigorous and robust creative process and for these little side projects she lets loose.

exactly that, my eyes ROLL every time someone says "she can do so much better! we just had mayhem!" like yeah... she can... but this is just a quick song for a quick movie, everybody gotta chill

A little reminder that Gaga knows what works for her albums and she left these songs out of Mayhem for a reason. Fans were sh!tting on Die With A Smile because it "replaced" another ballad. And now that we have listened to these songs they're sh!tting on these ones lol.

Tbf, I’ve seen very few people shitting on GL.

And I’ve seen people praising SOAW

I think we can all agree fans just need to pick what works for them and let go of what’s not. It’s not thaaaaaaaat serious

I mean, no one said it was that serious lol. If you love it, great, talk about that. If you don’t love it, feel free to weigh in. It’s a forum for a reason. I’ve yet to really see anyone crash out about the songs so I honestly feel like the folks who are trying to course correct the tone of the convo are kind of overreacting lol

This is funny because I feel exactly opposite. I feel like Shape of a Woman has such an ear worm of a chorus that won’t leave my head. It really is is in the top for choruses that stick for me. Glamorous Life left zero impression. Like it was a good ballad but it was mid for her - it’s not a ballad that leaves you with anything after the way DWAS, You and I, or Shallow leave you singing them after you hear them.

Everything you’re saying here I completely agree with. SOAW is such an earworm to me and it’s the one of the three that sticks in my brain when I’m not listening to music.

Glamorous Life is pretty but I’ve listened to it once and haven’t gone back to it. Definitely not on a ARUTW or Shallow level for me.

I'm a SOAM, KFL stan so I guess it makes sense that I like SOAW too but its not that deep guys. Fun tracks for a fun movie.

We all have our opinions and Gaga’s discovery is sooo diverse that it makes sense that different corners of the fan base will like different things she does.

Just listened to the SOAW and Glamorous Life (*cough cough* @ notlezx on Twitter *cough*)

Idk what y'all are on  I loved both of them! I truly don't get the SOAW hate/dislike/disinterest/whatever you wanna call it. It isn't the most groundbreaking track, but it's fun and I think it fits in perfectly with the disco-y side of MAYHEM. I could easily see this alongside KFL and SOAM. The post-chorus is also very catchy.

Glamorous Life is the ONE though. Despite my love for MAYHEM, I think most of the songs' lyrics are not that great. There are a few gems, but it doesn't stack up to some of her earlier work. I don't think GL is quite at that level, but it has considerably better lyrics than like half of MAYHEM. Sonically, it's an incredible ballad too. Idc what people say, I hope Gaga does a full ballad album someday. I think her best work is with these types of songs where she's able to really let her vocals go.

Overall: Glamorous Life > SOAW > RUNWAY

Yess. You are speaking my language.
