it’s not if people on GGD said so!

If Gaga released that song she would have to hide in a bunker till the next coming cuz you wouldn't stop dragging her for how bad the song is

But as it is not Gaga's suddenly it's a masterpiece

Gaga right before Perfect Illusion aint the same Gaga than right now. She has x18 times monthly listeners she had back then, she was coming from a flop commercial era like ARTPOP.

ARTPOP wasnt that much of a flop, we thought Mark Ronson was giving us a lead for days

ARTPOP isn't a flop tho?

and yea PI was a choice, a good decision from her team cause it shows versatility. I'd personally prefer Joanne (title track) as the lead single - its much more listenable than PI. Angel Down as second single will also succeed i think cause of the BLM that time a good conclusive song.

Its an album that almost destroys her career lol She was getting negative press no matter what she did. CTC and The Sound of Music saved her career 'cause people saw she had talent.

Hmmmm I don't think that's entirely true... I think ARTPOP was largely doomed anyway because it had to follow the monstrous succes of The Fame Monster and Born This Way. But destroy her career? I mean it was far from a Lotus or 143 type situation.

I gotta be honest… I just don’t see APT having any kind of longevity. I feel it will be incredibly front loaded (but feel free to quote me in a month if I’m incredibly wrong haha)

Kpop songs tend to be front loaded so i wouldnt be surprised tbh

Tho if Bruno Mars name helps mainstream audience, it could be one of the exeptions

I dont think it was just ARTPOP

I do remember by the 2nd half of BTW the GP was already really tired of Gaga and it was so popular to drag her for how weird and desperate she was

So she went into ARTPOP already with a declining image and popularity. Regardless tho in my opinion ARTPOP was not as good as TFM and BTW and at least at the time most fans agreed (even tho some changed their mind after)

South Blonde

Uhm if APT is bad than the rest of their solos (except maybe Rockstar) is trash...  :iamfair:

Don't get me wrong, I think most of their solo stuff sounds uninspired and dated but this song is probably the catchiest and easiest to digest and there's nothing wrong with that

Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?

Girl please, are we not allowed to have fun anymore?

This is probably the catchiest song any of the BP members have released as solo artist. No one's saying this is song of the year or whatever.

Drop it

Thinking quite often how Chromatica could have been her TFM-level era if promo and decisions were performed correctly 🥲

Correctly? Girl, it was a global pandemic.

Yet other people adapted, played their cards and had successful eras :traumatica:

It is what it is but if we're honest, they really missed big opportunities during the Chromatica era. It had sooo much potential

I can see APT having its little momentum but I don't think that it will have longevity, especially not DWAS kind of longevity. The song is fun and there is a hype around it now but it's not the kind of song that people would continue listening to over time.

Meh I don't really buy the narrative that Chromatica era was wasted bc of the pandemic. I mean Future Nostalgia and After Hours were right there at the same time and it worked bc they managed to adapt and chose the right singles, meanwhile Gaga and her team just acted as if everything was over, probably bc they are used to an older form of album rollouts. Also, the lead single choice was a HUGE mistake, I still don't understand what were they thinking when they peeked stupid love, that was a set up :neyde:

In fact, everything started with Alejandro MV. That was the moment the Madonna comparisons really came through plus the religious hatred and blasphemy comments at the time she swallowed the rosary.
I remember when she came up with BTW promo the gays were ready and down for it but she was already being super criticized by gp overall especially because of the prosthetics she had on her face which were demonic for them.

Then she came up with Judas and the rest is history.
