MelbHawker 6,583 Posted March 10 Share Posted March 10 Training Season is a great pop song, but it’s not a hit. I like the song, but the chorus falls so flat after great verses/solid pre-chorus. Houdini was a grower - I now really like the song. There’s just something lacking though.. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Obvs Gaga doesn't pick people based on their chart numbers. But there's no way team Dua weren't looking for a hit maker. Obviously they are having her make new music for a reason but I think they should stand by the album regardless. But that's just my opinion. Look at Olivia Rodrigo - any song on Guts taken in isolation could have been on Sour. Look at Billie - same for Happier than Ever vs. WWAFAWDWG. Lots of Lana songs have similar vibes across albums.
