Obviously, she's riding on the huge success of SOUR, so this is supposed to be her Oops I Did It Again/The Fame Monster era, sadly the stream numbers are not impressive so far

OT: the song is too safe, nothing new from her

She is boring and because of TikTok its easier to hop onto newer and better releases. I also think because the world is a lot more global -- people don't really care for newer American artists. Can you take in how New Jean's Super Shy music video already beat vampire's views and its only been a week... Jung Kook's Seven already has 49 million views in just one day.

Times are different and American music is getting boring.

This may be a hot take but I don’t think “boring” actually says anything. It’s not really valid criticism and is often a lazy crutch for stans to lean on rather than engaging deeper with music. It’s an entirely subjective feeling that actually explains nothing about what specifically the person saying it has taken issue with in a song.

The song is boring because it brings nothing new to the pop music in 2023 nor her personal brand. Just like how people say the new iphones are “boring”. They means it doesn’t offer that much worthwhile difference to the previous version — it’s not worth the upgrade. Vampire isn’t worth another listen because we already heard music like this from Sour and all the other angsty singer songwriters like her who popped up during lockdown.

When there’s so much new music being released with fresh sounds we don’t hear often, why would we listen to something “boring”?

I mean, it's still a massive hit. There's a lot of competition out right now, though, and idk if there were any big artists putting stuff out when driver's license first came out. So I think it was easier for DL to dominate. She's also doing very little promo.
