4th Time Around

Looks good, my only gripe is that Joaquin Phoneix looks way too old to be playing Napoleon during his days as an ambitious young officer rising through the ranks.

I like how they added “tyrant” to his description :applause:

Why? Napoleon was definitely authoritarian and his insatiable ambition eventually did him in but he was very progressive and rational in certain aspects, at least at the beginning of his tenure in power. He was not some genoicidal maniac like Adolf Hitler. I am hoping for a nuanced take on his depiction in this film.

oh yes. napoleon's influence on common law and justice is still felt to this day. he was an incredibly effective military general, a very well-established statesman and someone whose work is still deep-rooted in many of the world's legal systems.

it's not exactly like he was invading countries to murder their populations. he was just power-hungry, and if anything did europe a favour by clearing out the holy roman empire and paving the way for more of europe to move towards democracy and away from medieval monarchy.

Ridley's movie trailers always look stylish and seem to promise blockbuster commercial performance, which the movies often do achieve, but he's a hit-or-miss, really. It's always 'good' but never truly great.

I kinda wish Gaga doesn't get involved in his projects again tbh.

Considering Napoleon’s huge impact on the course of history, I’m surprised we’ve never had a major film about him before

lol napoleon is my middle name

I have been joking that im too lazy to read about him every time someone would bring him up -- "I'll wait for the movie :ororomunroe:"

i guess now i have no excuse

also why is this trailer edited like a fast and furious generic blockbuster movie type?
