How is it called? I haven’t heard anything about this. I wish there was a vaccine that would last longer… I’m sick of getting shots every 3-6 months. I’ll do it if necessary but I’m sick of all of this

Moderna already said they'd have one, they're starting trials soon. But last I heard the full roll out won't be until Fall which...this wave will be done by then hopefully so

I guess it'll make it into future boosters though.

It's all good, the existing boosters can increase your immunity by something like 40x over just two shots. By the time the Omicron specific boosters are done it might be time for our second round of boosters (or third if you're in Israel).

I hear a lot of complaints about this  not like yours, of course. I mean the Florida people brand of complaints.

Coronaviruses are like influenza viruses as far as mutations so I think the best we can hope for is an annual combo covid/flu shot. But I honestly don't think getting a booster every six months is that much of a hassle. It's 15 minutes followed by a day of feeling a bit crappy. I'll take that over the alternate

@PartySickits not a big deal to get that booster of course. I don’t mind needles and I don’t mind feeling like crap for 1-2 days, but what’s annoying me is that you can’t even go to a coffee house or restaurant, movie theatre etc if you don’t have a booster, because you couldn’t get an appointment earlier. I’m annoyed by the fact that I have to show my phone with my vaccination pass and ID card every time I enter a shop. It’s good that we do it cuz it’s necessary but it’s still annoying.
 

And getting that every 6-12 months would be ok, annoying but ok, but every 3 months for the rest of my life? Uhm… if absolutely necessary, yeah I’ll do it but still annoying. Covid is annoying me and worsening my and many people’s mental health. Sorry just needed to let that out. I’ve had some rough days

I’m definitely taking this Omicron specific vaccine as my 5th dose but I must say I find it highly suspicious how fast Pfizer were able to develop an Omicron targeted vaccine. I get it that there may be a base formula and minor adjustments were needed (that + tech/science/research constantly advancing) but still if they’re able to roll out global supply by March, am I the only one who feels it’s a quick turnaround? If someone has a more insightful/scientific reason, feel free to educate me. But it’s hard not to suspect that they had them prepared in advance and knew about that Omicron mutation was going to happen.

mRNA vaccines are easy to tweak. It’s the production + distribution that takes longer. 

There isn’t some grand conspiracy by Pfizer.

I was thinking about this and realized an omicron vaccine may still be useful even if by the time the vaccine is distributed the variant is dying off simply because...

 

Since its by far the most prevelant variant now and earlier variants even delta are reducing in number some being erradicated... any future major variants are likely to be a variation of Omicron not earlier variants meaning they will probably resemble omicron more than older variants

 

As such, innitial variants that pop out of omicron are likely to still respond well to vaccine tailored for omicron just like earlier variants like Delta responded well still to the vaccine for the original strain

 

So an Omicron vaccine is still an update for the evolution of the virus even if its already changing by the time the shot is given

I'm honestly just discouraged. I got my booster Friday, then tested positive yesterday.
Like... I'm aware of the dynamics and logistics of how this stuff works but idk. It's like a state of hopelessness for me right now (probably irrational).
