Let alone it was out and the original one is one of my favourite musicals. Ofc I won't be watching it bc I'm sick of these unnecessary remakes, but it's weird I haven't seen/heard anything of it. But I've heard the same things from my friends who do love musicals: You don't remake something as beloved (at least in the US) as West Side Story. Like the Wizard of Oz or Sound of Music. Just leave those be. In other news, I wonder of Gucci can reach 60 million? Once schools are out for Christmas break, it should, at least, maintain what it's bringing in now. ESPECIALLY with BLM, and the political climate of our country and racism reaching new heights...Steven could have revamped it to a true younger and modern audience but I guess nostalgia doesn't work for everything... Although it's still set in original time period, he does tease out issues of racism and xenophobia that are very relevant to the present-day US. This trailer was in front of Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Eternals, HoG, and Encanto when I saw them. Plus, if I'm remembering correctly, a pre-pandemic film (don't quote me on that, it's been a long time). I was tired of the movie before it even premiered. Bleachella 2,932 Posted December 12, 2021 Share Posted December 12, 2021 i encourage everyone to see it before making snap judgements!! it’s not a remake of the 1961 film but rather a re-adaptation of the 1957 musical, with new dialogue, new story beats, new characters, etc. I absolutely loved it and I think it’s far superior to the original. give it a chance!!
