She made me feel like it wasn't necessarily bad to be the weird one and to channel some of that weirdness into creating art. Loved seeing her rise while in high school (Just Dance, Poker Face, LoveGame); became a stan in college (Alejandro) and the rest is history. I think one iconic moment that I got to experience that solidified my stanning was her performance at Lollapalooza in 2010. Wow, that was just something else being in that crowd. I believe she was one of the first "pop" performers to take the main stage at Lolla. The crowd, Chicago skyline, Gaga's speeches throughout (ex: "Tonight my religion is Chicago")...it was magical. She not only got me through times when I have seriously considered ending my life, but helped me shape up to be a kind and considerate individual and love my queer self and believe in my self in this homophobic judgemental world. It might sound weird, but I consider like she is a godmother or a family member, who I can turn to whenever I feel the need to. So naturally, I might get a bit defensive when I hear unsavoury things about her. Whoever I am today, atleast some part of that, I completely owe it to to her.
