Knowing what we know now I would mainly give Gaga a lot more time and freedom to work on it . It's an amazing album but Gaga wanted to give it more love. I'd love to see the version of ARTPOP if it would've gotten a decently planned creative development cycle.

Also: fire Troy Carter as soon as possible instead of waiting for the era to implode :ally:

Wasn’t it for his verses only though?

The Child

DWUW lead single (solo) then surprise VMAs performance with Xtina and release the remix right away.

Make the album release date closer to the iTunes festival.

Sexxx Dreams second single then remix with Rihanna.

Third single in February for Valentine’s Day MANiCURE with Nicki Minaj

Fourth Single Gypsy

Fifth & Final Single Applause

NO APP! And I would have gone with a more toned down imagery for the era. Not something that aggressive. I would have put JnD in the trash and put ARTPOP with the loud heehees.

Focus

release tinnitus and have it as the lead single, pushing it the release back to mid/late 2012 while the edm/dubstep trend was still considered "new and groundbreaking". no seriously that song was way too ahead of its time. still sounds fresh a decade later.

MANiCURE 6

I love this thread ! Thank you for coming up with this idea ! :enigma:

Sooo... Now let's talk about ARTPOP ! I will mostly speak about how I'd have promote the era. And she would have fire Troy Trashter before the start of the promo rollout and would have prepared everything with Bobby. My main focus is the summary phrase of the era imo, "Stop the drama, start the music". God knows I love ARTPOP and its era, but, keep in mind it is just my opinion and I'm grateful with what she came up with during that time. Anyway, so, "Stop the drama, start the music" should have been taken in its literal sense. I would have made the music the main topic of the era.

"ARTPOP could mean anything" and it's a major problem for me and why the GP did not loved the album. For me, the concept of the album should have been simplified. Making ARTPOP an album full of electronic music that references in its imagery and in its sound Renaissance Art. Keep it simple.

The album cover is simplified too. We want something Artsy but not too much.

Spoiler

These covers, in my eyes, perfectly represents the simplified album concept explained above. Gaga making an album mostly inspired by Renaissance Art.

For the tracklist, I'd add more GP friendly songs such as 'Brooklyn Nights', 'I Wanna Be With You' and 'Heard It On The Radio'. I replaced Jewels N' Drugs with Tinnitus cause I feel like it fits the album spirit more. Also, I added Britney Spears on 'Sexxx Dreams' cause I feel like a female feature responding to Gaga would have been amazing and RuPaul on 'Fashion!' cause gay rights.

So the tracklist would look like this, with ARTPOP still being in the middle of the album as the heart of it :

Spoiler

ARTPOP

Aura

Venus

G.U.Y.

Heard It On The Radio

Sexxx Dreams (feat. Britney Spears)

Tinnitus

MANiCURE

Do What U Want

ARTPOP

Swine

Donatella

Fashion! (feat. RuPaul)

Mary Jane Holland

I Wanna Be With You

Gypsy

Brooklyn Nights

Applause

Also, a lot of the songs would have been simplified in their sound. Less busy.

For the promotion...

I feel like, in order to come back properly after 'Born This Way', an era of huge success but also the start of a certain decline in her career, I'd would have start 'ARTPOP' era with a safe choice. Starting the era with 'Aura' is a risky choice, even though it would be a serve. So, I think I would have started the era with 'Applause'. It's a GP friendly song and it's a bop. And it has the electronic sound that clearly fits what you will hear on the album. Then, I'd have revealed short snippets of ARTPOP (the song) and a few stems of songs like 'Venus' or 'Mary Jane Holland'. Then, bam, promo singles 'Venus' and 'Brooklyn Nights' to have both the fun and crazy side of ARTPOP and the more GP friendly side. After that, 'Do What U Want' one week before the album release as the second single. Then promo single 'MANiCURE'. Then, 'ARTPOP', promo single 'G.U.Y.' and to finish the era 'Sexxx Dreams' feat. Britney Spears and 'I Wanna Be With You' respectively as the fourth and fifth singles. The single rollout would have looked like this :

Spoiler

1st single - Applause (released August 25,  2013 during the MTV Video Music Awards and the music video premiere on September 1, 2013).

Promo single - Venus (released September 25, 2013) with a lyrics video.

Promo single - Brooklyn Nights (October 2, 2013) with a lyrics video.

2sd single - Do What U Want (With My Body) (November 4, 2013) music video the same day.

ARTPOP - Album (November 11, 2013)

Promo single - MANiCURE (November 27, 2013)

3rd single - ARTPOP (February 5, 2014)

Promo single - G.U.Y. (March 28, 2014) The ARTPOP film released the same day including 'ARTPOP', 'Venus', 'Donatella', 'G.U.Y.' and 'MANiCURE'.

4th single - Sexxx Dreams (feat. Britney Spears) (May 28, 2014) with music video a week later.

5th single - I Wanna Be With You (September 10, 2014) with a live performance during the ArtRAVE as the music video.

The ARTPOP App would have been released the same day as the album and would have contained a 1-hour long documentary about the making of the album, the instrumentals and stems of every tracks, the entire photoshoot of the album including a few exclusives pictures and a 10 minutes long Gagavision behind the scene video made during the shooting. During the era, some songs and remixes would have been released through the app. For example, 'Jewels N' Drugs (feat. T.I., Too $hort and Twista)', 'Cake', 'TEA', 'Temple', 'PARTYNAUSEOUS', 'Ratchet (feat. Rihanna), the alternate version of 'I Wanna Be With You' : 'Dope', 'Do What U Want (feat. Christina Aguilera), ARTPOP (feat. Elton John), the solo versions of 'Sexxx Dreams' and 'Fashion!' and some demo versions of songs. It would also feature a tchat and a live option where Gaga could interact with us. It would also contain a live performance section where Gaga could post every live performances of the era and a few app exclusives performances. ARTPOP Act. II would never be a thing and the best songs of it would have been released through the app.

The more important is her voice, people needs to understand that she can sings so she would make a lot of acoustics versions of the singles during the promotion.

An ArtRAVE DVD would have been released. And a box featuring the OG album, the DVD and a CD including all the tracks released through the app would have been released for Christmas after the end of the era.

And I still have a lot of ideas so maybe I'll return here to write more... ^^

SEANGT

I know this is supposed to be fun but the reason none of the stuff happened was because her management was toxic at the time. Then they left and she had to scrap all of their plans.

In any case, all I want is Aura released as the first single as the continuation of Telephone.

I would have surprised dropped in mid-July with a full visual album and become hte surprise drop standard before Beyonce does it at the end of the year. It would have been a huge bang. At the same time release DWUW featuring Justin Timberlake who was very popular at the time which would have been a guaranteed smash, and they already collabed on SNL before so it makes sense. The VMAs performance would have been very sexy and something very new for the public regarding Gaga. The R Kelly mess really is the main reason the era was doomed.

Love the album, but I would've made it more tangible and incorporated real instruments into the mix. Electric guitars on "Swine", live drums on "Sexxx Dreams", that sort of thing.
