Noo is that your kind of stan always think that everything is related to Gaga and everything good is copied.

So tired of yall

I LITERALLY JUST TOLD YOU I DIDNT SAY I AGREE WITH OP

And denying that the cellophane video was copied is just nonsense that you choose to repeat.

Should i expect you to jump in my DMs telling me that I'm attacking you again or what now?

Edit: he is in my DMs :mark:

I was thinking this too. Also the world of Montero is a similar concept to Chromatica - a mental state of freedom and love that is visually represented by a colorful, trippy alien-ish world.

I love the video a lot.

Also...

Has anyone ever done the concept of flipping the idea of "gays go to hell" by embracing it like he's doing in this video? :oprah:

I'm asking because I made a short film with a similar concept in 2018. Obviously he's never heard of little ol me :toofunny: But it's fascinating to me because I've never seen that concept before used by anyone else? Unless I'm just not aware of some other art.

For anyone curious in my film a gay character is shunned by his Christian friends when he comes out. They say he's going to hell, homosexuality is demonic etc. and then it turns out he actually is possessed. :billie: He's like a gay demon and he starts going after his friends. It's a horror/comedy.

yesssss, i thought that too, about chromatica, it's like chromatica blockbuster hollywood version with some bjork haha

I think the real issue here is some of you really lack general knowledge when it comes to music, music videos or art history, which makes you see everything through the Gaga prism.

ehhhmmm no, i'm not actually very much only into pop culture, i know different areas of art, mostly the dark /goth / punk / metal spectrum. and believe me, this is reminiscent of gaga than anything else, and i heard the guy talking, he doesn't seem like a very studied or knowledged person about art. like for example Gaga or Madonna are, and it's understandable, he's just begining.

I'm pretty sure there's plenty of videos before Bad Romance and Born This Way in which an artist has been on all fours, grinded on someone's lap and looked like an alien.

for sure, but it's not only that, the prosthetic of the alien is very similar, and the shape of the head is the same, the alien serves the same purpose, acceptance of the one's self, then the lap dance is also for your enemy and someone you eventually kill, it's the context, i mean, i think the inspiration is there.

Of course! I mean it's TFM/BTW all over again a decade later, in a good way I mean, not a copy, just a similar theme - very outrageous religious provocation, and very homoerotic too. :firega:

Remember Gaga being called satanic, a demon, possessed, and being denounced by churches all over the world :laughga:

absolutely, no other popstar in this century has faced so much backlash as her just for the fact of expressing herself in uncommon and avant-garde ways, imagine being called out for such ridiculous things like blasphemy LOL. Maybe just Marilyn Manson, but he's technically from the previous century xd

That's as reductive - pun intended - as people who kept comparing Gaga to Madonna. People being called blasphemous for expressing who they are is a story as old as time. Gaga and Lil Nas are part of this long line of boundary-pushers, but I personally don't see a clear direct influence between the 2 of them other than that.

it's not reductive, obviously i know it is old as time, but i said this century, the XXI century, if you look the mainstream pop icons, gaga really is the one who suffered more backlash in regard of blasphemy besides Marilyn Manson, there are no others, i dare you to tell me another one.
I already pointed out the influences i clearly see between the 2 in the post and replies, there are undeniable similarities, not only in image, but also in intentions and purpose, which is good, i love it. because i love gaga. I think it is literally reductive to say you don't see them but not argue against them instead haha

Why would you limit yourself to this century tho? We're literally just 21 years in. Like it or not, but most current artists are inspired by things that happened decades, if not centuries, ago. That's why I'm saying your comparison is reductive - I guess if you absolutely want to find Gaga connections, you'll find them  But this isn't a very educated observation imo.
