The earliest Ossoff and Warnock can be put in the senate is the 15th but they might not get in until Biden does on the 20th. Their votes might be crucial to getting him convicted even with the few Republicans saying they want him out.

Impeachment isn't only about removing him from office though. Former presidents get a ton of benefits and a lifelong pension. They can take all that away.

In this case though, a second impeachment in the house will prohibit Trump from ever running for public office again.

Well we know he won't invoke 25th so I guess impeachment trial on Monday will begin...hope he never gets a chance to run again and is removed and publicly shamed and embarrassed to even live in America after he is president

Yup. And about your other post, I think you're right. Nancy is trying to force the GOP to either back Trump or oppose him. "There is no grey area".

In the future, when Cruz, Hawley, Pence, or whoever try to run, their actions between election night to whenever the business with Trump is settled will either be their saving grace ("I broke with party lines to remove/convict a dangerous president") or their biggest downfall ("I supported a sociopathic traitor because he had an R next to his name and I wanted his voters").

Let's be real though, I think the capitol invasion was enough of a shock that anyone who still disputed the election results will never be able to win even a primary challenge, let alone win against a Democrat.

No, the house will probably vote on impeachment in the next couple of days. The senate can’t convene until the 19th, McConnell already released the timeline for Trumps potential 2nd impeachment trial which happens after Biden inauguration

Impeachment is done in the house. He has already been impeached once. A second impeachment in the house bars him from future election. The senate is just for removal of the president. 

I could be wrong but we don't need the senate to make it so he can't run again.
