Sounds interesting but I don't need to watch it to know social media is the devil. I have a Facebook account to keep in touch with friends and that's it. It's nothing but hate and divisiveness.

I have mixed feelings about this. Undoubtedly social networks share a part of the responsibility, but if we're really looking for culprits, the weapons are nothing without those who use them. These platforms could all do more to stop the spread of hate speech, but they're navigating a thin line between duty and censorship, so it's not that easy. Blocking the account of a President was absolutely necessary, but also so unprecedented.

The larger part of the blame goes to Trump and all the elected pundits who put their own interests before those of their constituents out of ego and selfishness. They need to be held accountable 110%, and will forever be on the bad side of history. This failure is their failure to uphold their duties as elected officials who are meant to speak for the people, not for themselves.

Social media has made reporting even more biased an politicised with tones of facts always warped, facts omitted to change the narratives and in some cases outright lying and tbh I see platforms like this in all political sides (even most ppl always point to their opposing side as the culprits not acknowledging the networks and community that favours them does the exact same thing)

 

I dunno why ppl on YouTube criticize mainstream media so much for being biased because in my opinion online platforms are even less neutral and more partisan, they are literally WORSE even tho they like to pertend they are better

 

I've yet to find any major online source that purely sticks to facts and isn't biasly always pushing a political narrative and omitting details that isn't convinient for their political agendas or that their followers and base wanna hear

 

That kinda stuff creates a divide even worse because wherever the truth lies, each opposing side will split opposing sides even further from eachother in how it's reported

 

These hardcore Trump supporters, they got their facts so wrong that even the most biased mainstream medias like Fox news dont explain this. It's definitely mainly the world of online stuff for sure

 

I'm jabbing a bit more on conservatives because they are the ones that did this and the misinformation they got that created this mess. But progressives are hardly guilty free of the stuff I was talking about either of bias or omitting details and stuff
