Homelessness and poverty are systemic problems, not caused by people who are putting stuff on a grave We could argue that you shouldn't waste money on Gaga's merch and instead donate it to hungry people but would that be fair? I’m well aware they’re systemic problems but does that excuse people for not taking personal action? I’m not blaming them for homelessness, it just strikes me as really naive behaviour that devalues the importance of food and waste in our society. My point was obviously specific to food waste, not consumer goods. They’re a problem too but I’m unsettled by the fact that people would rather let the food they already bought rot away on a grave than donate them to people in need. Its the priorities that don’t sit well with me.
