Streaming was never the problem though. Radio was the problem and US radios never would play it or put in on power rotation even when it debuted at #1.

And I always stream it everyday :)

The US just had extremely different tastes in music right now. Rap and trap are primarily what's taking up the charts so I am not sure if it's a fair situation.

I think it's just more funny to us because Gaga is an American based artist who does better overseas :laughga:

and yet almost never does overseas promo anymore lmao

I think because of the rules that dictate the billboard charts. With how streaming (and not just on spotify but Tik Tok and YouTube and such) works, the #1 in the US is a bit more democratized now and thus susceptible to frequent fluctuations or strangleholds ala Old Town Road.

REALITY

It's honestly really annoying because the song has sooo much potential.

This is why I don't consider it to be a huge hit yet. There's just not a ton of support for it. I feel like Million Reasons had more impact than ROM.

ChromaticRaccoon

It peaked at #2 in Australia, but it's still #15!

Chromatica is only at #31, but I have a good feeling 911 is gonna smash here!

Edit: Just checked and 911 already hit 76 here

It is a huge hit, just not in the US. It's gonna surpass Applause in popularity in the next coming weeks.

Except it’s doing exceptionally well in streaming.

Not as of late in USA. If it is it will at least latches on on Top 10.

WAP did stole those titles for song of the Summer, as well as most streamed song by a female duo from them.

Ever since Billboard updated their rules, streaming is more prevalent than U.S. radios these days anyway. And a song needed a lot a of streams, remember when ROM debuted at #1?, it needed that kind of scale, constantly. Doing well is not enough anymore. Even song by BLACKPINK with Selena only debuted at 13 this week with all those hundred Millions of streams by both BLINKS and Selenators.

Of course I remember, but you have to consider that streaming will always lower as the song gets older. Obviously ROM won't get the same number of streams in its 15th week as it did its first couple of weeks.

Here is an example:

Rain On Me basically has no airplay on Pop Radio anymore.

But, look at these statistics:

Rain On Me:

iTunes US: #29
Apple US: #120
Spotify US: #44

Break My Heart:

iTunes US: #68
Apple US: #338
Spotify US: #68

You look at these statistics and you would expect Rain On Me to be above Break My Heart on the Hot 100, correct? Well its not. Break My Heart is above Rain On Me on the Hot 100. And you know why? Because of radio.

Whether or not streaming is prevalent now on the Hot 100, radio is still a HUGE factor.
