RenegAde 18,436
Before i share my opinion i want to say that everyone is free to feel any type of way they want to feel about the VMA performance . I have always defended Gaga from the irrational rude complaint but i think i feel a sense of security to share my thoughts between us as fellow fans respectfully within this site . While i think the performance is good and it definitely has some praise worthy qualities like gaga's 1000% stage presence /energy and her ever amazing live vocals, i feel conflicted about the performance personally . I find myself unable to watch it twice . Even tho it was probably the best of the vma night . She had months to plan this and had 9 minutes to give us the most mind blowing performance of our lives, and maybe she did that for some of you but she didnt for me . I just think the performance could have been way better and here is why. I think gaga is prioritising being an "artiste" over being a "performer". We can see from her enigma shows and this VMA medley that she is focusing more on being a flawless singer and dynamic dancer on stage than being the gaga that we always knew would be to entertaining and leave our wigs snatched . While she will always have the best stage presense of any artist alive today ,i feel like she does not rehearse enough to be as flawless with the vocal and dance steps like she intends to . I have 2 problems with her focusing more on being flawless with the singing and dancing. number 1 is that i dont think she rehearses enough which causes the breaks in choreo like i said above etc. and that may sterm from her working with friends and also that may be the best option for her physical and mental health My second issue is that because she is trying to be the that "artiste" things like stage design , constume ,lighting and mind blowing stunts have taken a major back seat since her superbowl performance . The VMA lighting was dull and dissapointing for me apart from stupud love . The stage design was basically non existent and it was pretty much devoid of the gaga stunts we all love like changing outfits right before your eyes and jumping from rooftops .and offcourse i dont expect that from every performance but for me the VMA lacked concept. I will always love gaga and support her music even if she farts into a microphone . But i feel like within us , we should be able to admit when a performance is far from satisfactory and encourgage her to do better (not bully her) because we know her true capabilites and the VMA was Little Bit bit below her standards (I wont condone any unnecessary rude comments towards gaga or myself please )
Runway 27,876
You say it was the best of the night but end up saying it wasn’t satisfactory so what’s the truth
MiQuenDroid 5,059
I think the VMAs were just the beginning, apparently the performance was cut and some parts will be CTV exclusive ("askip", like we say in french). Personally, I loved it, especially the Stupid Love part. Billboard Awards are coming, and I hope she's made a lot of beautiful things for the Chromatica Ball. All I ever wanted was love... NFRatwell 23,290
I thought it was amazing and I’ve watched it at least a dozen time now. I also find it interesting how so many people have negative things to say about a performance they can’t even go back and watch a second time. How do you really know you don’t like it if the only time you watched it was the first time, when people are usually less open to anything outside of their expectations and hopes. dynamite 51,229
I really enjoyed it and think she did what she could given the circumstances and restrictions this year. It would surely have been more outrageous if it was the full show.

I have watched it more than once and watched a lot of reactions to it just to see if my feelings were valid .what i meant was that i cant watch it anymore not that i have watched it only once in my life. Typically i watched gaga performances like 3 times a day
HeavyMetalLover 16
I liked it a lot. She’s not going to take any advice about her artistry from you or anyone else on GGD, Twitter, IG, MySpace or LiveJournal, though. I promise you that. i don't remember ARTPOP

LittleMonster20 9,791
I understand where you’re coming from, although I personally LOVED this performance. However, you should remember that this is the FIRST performance of the era, which hasn’t even really kicked off when it comes to the performances and looks. We have the numbers, the #1 hit single, the #1 album, 1 million plus sales, so now it’s time to have fun. I’m sure when things get better this era will be epic, and we can all dance trough the pain for real
A Very Gaga Holida 22,358
I kinda agree but it's hard to be determined to create a Gaga moment when there's no crowd... If it's not live, it loses its authenticity
lgaga1fan 2,305
Considering the physical and technical limitations of recording a performance that looked that grand, Gaga and the Haus did a phenomenal job. The costumes were on ****ing point, the set and lighting were on point, literally everything was on point. Gaga's finally at the place in her career where she may look messy on stage but everyone around her looks well put together and coordinated. Nicola did a great job organizing the outfits and designing the stage. She literally took us back to the 90's and you wanna complain about the outfits being messy and having no focus. I'd love to see you put on some extra avant garde performance in the middle of a pandemic. The fact that the all important "Gaga" is gone and she's just focusing on delivering completely executed references and routines is one of the most refreshing changes ever in her career. The vast majority of people think that the performance was excellent so you can seethe.
starsdontlipsing 53
Good comment, I see where where you are coming from but, I have long thought about her evolution as a performer. I think she personally challenged herself to be more than a “shock” artist. By focusing on her singing and improving it she is improving herself as an artist and performer. I also think long term she sees herself as doing piano renditions late in her career and is preparing her vocals skills for that transition. Her choreography/dancing, while not elite, becomes more impressive when you consider the fact she is singing, actually singing the whole time, which takes some incredible endurance and strength.
