We don't seem to believe anyone can be a one hit wonder these days which is weird as they're definitely still around. We just seem to believe everyone's entitled to a successful career now. She has a great voice (how many current pop girls can do a whistle register?) and I loved SBP and K&Q but everything else is ok at best. It's all too generic and basic. Her image is dated and even if her songs are catchy, they don't have a timeless feel to them. Maybe if she hadn't looked too similar too Gaga and clearly modelled her sound on early Gaga music, she could've had a fairer shot. I guess there have been turnarounds but they're rare. Very good point. I'm one of the ones who wrote Dua off as a one hit wonder from the start as well and even she surprised me with her sophomore album. And another one who pulled off a surprising comeback with their second album was Rita Ora (not exactly worldwide and certainly not in America but in the UK, definitely) who everyone thought was done after releasing a bunch of flop stand-alone singles and took 8+ years to release her second album went on to have 4 top ten singles in the UK with it. Don't know if she's going to get much further from there but a surprise nonetheless. Which makes me realise... Acting like pop music has to be groundbreaking or like the major names are constantly putting out something innovative and different. Like damn. Did you guys listen to any of the songs she’s put out?
