that's my piece of quarantined thought. may be exaggerated from the 8 days i've spent locked up home, but it's as far as may brain cells go right now. xx

I will only accept her pushing back the release on her wishes. If she herself decides she doesn’t want to because of corona virus. 
 

Lady Gaga is Lady Gaga. She will make her coin, top charts and make impact no matter what she does. I don’t care about char positions at this point. She’s proved herself more than once. ASIB blowing up and becoming a success and SL leaking a whole ass month before release and becoming a success. 
 

She doesn’t need marketing, promo and public appearances at this point in her career to make a substantial living. She has a very strong fan base... and infact I can guarantee most of the general public buy her stuff too even if they don’t belong to her fan base. I know many heterosexual alike who cream over a new gaga song. She could release an album in the middle of a worldwide lockdown and could still top charts. 
 

There Is a flip side though. The world is going through the biggest pandemic in decades and this album could be cemented in history if it’s played right. If you want strategy then it’s easy;

You use this pandemic as a USP for the album (don’t come for me because I’m not making light of this pandemic, I have the virus right now and it’s not nice) BUT you use it to your artists advantage. You market the album on twitter and online magazines as an album which is meant to heal the world, to make people dance through the pain (which she is already doing) and you push the message that music heals, you start challenges for fans in quarantine to sing along to promo singles and record it on their phones and upload to Twitter and create a hashtag (e.g. she releases Babylon as a promo single, creates a #BattleForYourLifeQuarantine hashtag wheee fans post them singing and dancing along) that in itself would be bigger promo for the album than an interview. 
 

When the second single comes out, both Ariana and Gaga do IG lives and hashtags to promote the single, this time they release the lyric video and get fans to record them singing in quarantine and create a “fan video” before the official music video drops and create a “RainOnMeFanVideo” hashtag. Both Ari stans and us monsters will promote it and hammer it on social media spreading the word to the GP. 
 

Then when the album does come out Gaga announces “it’s time to heal the world. Come to Chromatica. 1/3 of the proceeds of my album will be going to helping victims of the corona virus worldwide. Together with Chromatica we will heal the world and recover from this. 🥰” 

Even if she creates a hashtag along the lines of :

“#CoronaCancelledChromaticaCalls”

..it would become (pardon the pun) viral in a sense. It would then be recognised as the album which brought people together during the worlds worst pandemic, made people dance and provided relief during one of the worst time’s in this earths history. It would be spoken about for years, “ Lady Gaga released that album when the corona virus happened and everyone loved it, remember? That song about battling for your life when people where actually battling for their lives? And she donated like a third of the profits to help victims, kinda cool”

Also with everyone locked in their houses the GP would be like “oh Lady Gaga has a new album out I have nothing else to do, Bad Romance was a banger let’s see what she’s got” so it would be a streaming hit anyway.

Gaga holds a lot of power but she's still under a contract with them. They are the ones responsible for her album rollouts, securing radio deals, managing promotional budgets, strategy, project management etc... the decision of when this album comes out will ultimately lie with them.

Gaga is powerful but she's not bigger than Universal Music. They're the ones holding most of the cards here.

I'm not saying you can't feel disappointed if she postpones. The way you worded it all, was way more aggressive than "I'd be disappointed".

One of the most profitable artist on Interscope, so? Of course she has a lot of freedom etc., but in the end, she's still 'an employee' for a company, no matter how much we romanticize it.

The album is already being printed 

After April 10th (May and June) the outbreak will reach its peak (we hope so)

If they delay chromatica to July/August (???) will hurt the sales anyway. She will not postpone it.

The only retailer who said they would put a hold on shipping physical albums is Amazon and that’s because they’re the largest online retailer and they’re flooded with orders for essential items. Plus this hold is only until April 5th. I ordered my physical copies on Target.com and it shows it being delivered April 10th still
