It's because the entire culture and theme of this album would not sit well in the world right now. The theme had messaging around 'cancelling' earth and the album cover APPARENTLY ties into this. I haven't seen it, but it's meant to be 'explosive'. Reading between the lines, I think it's a shot of Gaga holding Chromatica (the planet) in her hands whilst surrounded by fire and destruction. Still, I guess that’s just a placeholder date? But I hope they didn’t send that email out to everyone who ordered the album through Gaga’s website lol. Then later on whenever the pandemic dies down some of the original bigger promo plans can be fufilled. She don't want to do any "low-budget promo", clearly. She wanted to do Coachella during release week, an Apple sponosored concert, a MV with Ariana, a Genius video, etc. That was her vision and the virus came to ruin her vision. I’d maybe say there’s a delay, but I’d still release a promo song this week, I’d give fans news next week with promo, I’d release maybe another promo single next month until I can get everything straight. I get delaying an album because your plans are cancelled. I don’t get trying to make you fans “focus their attention” on more important things. Halting the very thing most of your fans consider the light in the darkness of all this mess, completely disregarding the message she was promoting at the beginning of the era with the “dancing through the pain” and “I’m back to making music for my fans”...
