Obama will stop Bernie from being a Dem nominee

I've become pretty disillusioned with Obama recently.  His latest comments are really highlighting how much of a Corporate Democratic he is.

The "warning" about going too far left. It may sound like a reasonable thing on paper, but put it in context of his policies. Obamacare's biggest winners were insurance companies. It was one of the more corporate ways to do socialized healthcare to say the least.

For me, personally, I became disillusioned in him when I learned about just how awful his drone strikes of civilians had been. Indefensible for me.

I mean I do agree him that going to far left is damaging :emma:

But yeah I do agree with you that the way he did Obamacare was highly Corporate swayed

i'd be salty too if my entire political philosophy failed and only led to the country drifting further right. Sit down Obama.

Right and left political philosophies both suck anyway...

actually Carter started that trend by turning his back to Iran’s Shah. Reagan reprimanded him for it during the debates, and current scholars believe this was the start of the deterioration of peace in the middle east.

The Shah was a tyrant propped up by the United States and the UK after we overthrew the democratic government of Iran in 1953. THAT started it (if by "it", you mean Iranians resenting the U.S. -- I wouldn't pretend there was ever any peace in the middle east, generally, to deteriorate).

Iran was still great under the Shah’s rule. It was a secular state, women had rights, and we were a growing superpower. Yes there was an issue of inequality, but this was made 1000x worse by Western propaganda stating that the Shah had his meals flown in by Concorde (the concorde was not allowed to fly supersonically over land) and that the Queen bathed in milk—Both of these were untrue.

As a dual American-Canadian citizen I can honestly say we haven't had a President be anywhere near great as JFK--and JFK didn't even get a chance to be great. LBJ would've been great had he not screwed things up in Vietnam.

This is why I said "the last 50 years".

Donald Trump is great in regards that he has compassion for human life, and his reluctance to bomb foreign countries is a strength, not a weakness.

You've got to be kidding. Trump demonizes everyone south of the border, all Muslims, and all his political opponents, as literally subhuman. He separates children from their families, urges people at his rallies to beat up protestors, urges cops to mistreat prisoners, pardons war criminals, eliminates refugee programs... he's the opposite of compassionate. Even in military terms, you can argue that he's been restrained in direct actions, but his policies have enabled aggressive military actions by Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

There is a difference between being indifferent or not yet informed enough about a candidate to support one and having the inclination to actively stop Bernie from being the nominee. The fact that he would even consider speaking out against a candidate that actual Americans literally want as their nominee tells you a LOT about him :deadbanana: And its not because Bernie is an existential threat to democracy or American civilization, its because hes a threat to corruption, which we should all support.

That would be so incredibly partisan and improper to do. Its like saying "If the next nominee doesn't follow my goals and plans to a tea, they won't be allowed to win" - Can you imagine if all political parties and candidates all had to be exactly the same in order to get support? This whole scenario gives him too much influence over the future of the country contrasted with the actual citizens of this country. It's lowkey anti-democratic.

Lets take his problem with Elizabeth Warren. He likes her, he wanted her in his administration, supported and lobbied for the CFPB even when she wasn't in congress, considers her a friend, etc. His problem with her isn't her or her ideas, its that  her ideas would make his legacy look bad because it will do what he refused to do - tax the rich and help solve income inequality. This whole thing is really arrogant and shows his insecurity about his own legacy, which really shouldn't matter at all. Obama can put his pride away and support what is best for the people, even if what the people decide is not what YOU as an individual would.

It's great that he claims that he will support the nominee no matter who they are, but the suggestion that he would tear down a candidate that he personally doesn't like, knowing his influence, is pretty gross to me. That being said, he should've been more aggressive in telling Joe not to run, because even if Joe wins, he's pretty clearly deficient as a candidate and as a person :rip:

My thing is this. We are going off of here say. This advisor did not even say those words but everyone on here is running with it. This site fact checks more things about Gaga and pop culture than politics it seems. I dont dislike any of the nominees yet but Obama has never said "I dont like this person" he has only done what we ALL do and that is critique the nominees. People are going insane because 'How dare a democratic president not support all the democrats no matter what.' That way of thinking is literally the reason Trump is in office and is terrible. Repubs seem to support him no matter what. If he told Biden not to run and Biden still did then thats not Obama's fault lol Biden is a grown man and will do whatever he wants ha. Presidents ALWAYS show support to someone just like Obama did Hillary. My point is yall are jumping the gun and over reacting to something that isnt an issue. Whoever wins will get Obamas support against Trump.

Sidenote: Bernie supporters are way too agressive and they will be viewed like Trump supporters if no one is allowed to criticize or question him and I like him the most so far. Their ideas are just super progressive and will be fought by republicans and many undecided voters would have to believe hard that those ideas will work. That's what Obama is saying.

Politics on GGD that actually don't result in an arguement lol Thank You for the maturity
