It doesn’t work anymore. The media could repost that bloody photo everywhere every year all they want but Gaga has become something more. The VMAs are for promoters and hypebeasts. This used to be the event that gave us iconic pop culture moments and at some point was even considered the edgy equivalent of the grammys. MTV had the potential to keep that up if it didn’t screw over the artists. The moonman totally lost its value and i’m not just saying that as a stan. The vmas went from one of the most anticipated events to “oh the vmas are on tonight”. Once they stop getting 1 or 2 big names to show it’ll be over for them and rightfully so.
