Woohoo 6,534
I honestly think it's her fave, remember the post where she celebrated the album's birthday captioned something along of "you are my diamond tunnel into my wretched soul" and the iconic ARTPOP cake "I heard if you record Gaga snoring and play it backward it sounds like an act. 2 unreleased." FfFfFfFF 55,966
No, but it seems more like she associates it with a bad time in her life and I wouldn't be surprised if she wants to detach from it. And even so she still performed at least an ARTPOP song on Joanne World Tour, Enigma and Coachella (the only notable music event that lacked ARTPOP in its setlist is Superbowl and could be justifiable since that was more designed for the GP). JazzGa 14,621
"Ashamed" is way too strong of a word She's said she was working on ARTPOP's "little sister" at least once My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <
Lady Rah Rah 2,000
No she absolutely loves it, I think she doesn't perform many songs off it because of the backlash it faced, and lets be real, Enigma isn't just a show for the die-hard fans but the GP too. ARTPOP was so misunderstood by the GP and that's why it didn't chart. Not that it matters, ARTPOP is my favourite album of hers of all time. Chromatica will live on forever. LordEnigma 11,313
I think it was a hard time for her and singing the deeper cuts of the album is probably hard for her. I can’t listen to some songs (in general) because it triggers me back to some dark point in my life
RAMROD 109,615
It's just the dark times for her career and mental wise, not about being ashamed. She was obviously unwell during this era, especially the beginning to middle of it. It even concerned fans, when she acted erratic, and those painting too. She probably don't wanna revisit that dark place again, which is why ARTPOP songs are not plenty on setlist, or her rarely talking about it at all since. That is how I see it anyway. ShayCristoforo 10,607
I don't think she's ashamed, but I think she's a little embarrassed. And probably confused because she put her all into it and it didn't go over as well as anyone would have hoped / expected. It's confusing because there are definite gems, including Gypsy. I don't think anyone can deny that. But there were definitely some questionable choices and she probably looks back and recognizes where she fell short. So it's more of a sore spot, or a touchy subject. Enabling her to just compartmentalize it and move on with life like the rest of us lol Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time. LilyLark 10,104
Elton John implied she wasn't entirely happy with the album. I think she loved ARTPOP, even if she wasn't entirely happy with it, but between the songs not being as big as tracks from her other albums (except for Applause) and the bad memories I could see her not being into performing it. Plus, the songs have so much production and don't necessarily sound as good live compared to most of her other work. She re-signed with Interscope, though, and Interscope allowed her to do a Jazz album and a country-ish album instead of pushing her to do more commercial pop—so I don't think she has any problems with her label even if they wanted her to put out different singles. I think Gaga herself probably was difficult during the ARTPOP era (drugs/mental health/physical health) and leading up to ARTPOP Troy completely overworked her (look at how many shows she was doing). Plus, it looked like she had some bad people/hangers on on her team considering some sued each other and then one sued Gaga and sh*t was getting leaked to the tabloids all the time back then. GreenDiamond 6,286
I think she loves it, she even performed bunch of ARTPOP songs at Coachella, and AURA at Enigma, which is the epitome of ARTPOP album
Miel 15,009
I think she likes the album. Loves it, even- as all of her other ones. But, as everybody else has said, I don't doubt that there is at least some hurt associated with that album and "era". Thankfully, she ended it all on a positive note, but that doesn't erase the difficulties she and her team experienced. She shows it love occasionally, though. Coachella is a great example. 3 points in and ready for more
