Why Are Gaga's Hardcore Fans So Young?

So I'm 26. I was 14 when she first got famous...

 

Although a few on this website are older than me... I'm older than average yet I was young when she was at her prime

 

Also most casual fans of Gaga are actually no younger than 25... Most of today's teens or even early 20s don't follow Gaga like my generation did

 

Yet the hardcore fans like the ones on this website seem younger... On average 17-23 I'd say

When I was 16/17 I liked her because of how she looked and what she was putting out visually but not necessarily musically. I guess younger fans feel more inclined to talk about her which is why you see more of that age group being more active on sites like this?

i feel like a reason for that is because the people at least in my age range, coming from a 16 year old, grew up with gaga and cant really think of a music industry without her. some of my earliest memories regarding music are with gaga, i actually talk with my friends about her quite often and it seems like most people around me like her as well. the hardcore fans in the 17-23 age range like you mentioned are probably just starting to express their love of her music more, now that we’re starting to grow up and all.

you could also credit her having a sort of comeback with the GP helping, everything since american horror story (which is actually where most of my friends attribute her with, other than her big singles) helped expose her to a younger audience that was already familiar with her music since they were little. sorry if i wrote this confusingly at all

I'm 24, I literally have to double take when people post saying stuff like they were 6 when Paparazzi came out  then I realise I'm almost old

I think it's just that younger people have more time to screw around on the internet, so they seem more visible. Stanning in the way we think of it (being vocal on twitter or forums) is a young person's game, really. The older you get the more responsibilities you generally have and often that means less time talking about your fav endlessly.

I myself took a social media break for Gaga related things in 2016/2017 but I certainly still thought of myself as a 'hardcore' fan, same as I do now that I'm back on my bullshit. I just work from home these days and have more bored lonely hours during the day  There are probably tons of older fans in the same boat.

I semi-disagree with this premise. I think most of her fans are over 25—but in general fans that are on social media and fan sites, especially "stan twitter" or for an extended period of time, generally skew younger.

I became a fan 10 years ago, and I'm 23 now  Most of the fans that I've been following on Twitter since 2011 are about the same age. A lot of us are between 20-25 now I'd say

I was 11 when I became a fan, and the time that we have shared over the eras (though we've never met) is so significant that I will never stop stanning. I am 21 now.
