Aura is Burqa, but the name was changed for obvious reasons.

Felix Jens 181
I prefer Aura as a title because her pronunciation of Burqa doesn’t sound good. I like both versions though, and generally I like all versions demos etc of Aura. The Melody That Ü Choose ,Can Rescue Ü

hELXIG 43,228
There was an original leak of Aura where her vocals were more rough and 'screamy' and that one is my favourite! Lets see if I can find it... "ONE MAN to loove" ... "enoo-ou-ou-ouuuuuugh" so much better then her girly vocals in the final I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. Phlop 4,773
That outro is divine. I like the verses from Aura demo the most though. The final version is good but the two demos are better IMO. BYE

June 627
the ending is what makes it so damn good. plus it just makes more sense... to say aura is better makes 0 sense because burqa is the original form and the words fit better with the overall theme of the song! I JUST CAN'T GET OVER THE SECOND HALF SOUNDING SO CUTE but i do admit that i like the raw/haunting vocals from the aura demo but whatever still Burqa>Aura! Inferno 2,880
I never agree with this. I think the use of the word Aura opens up the song and especially makes the chorus more varied. It just sounds better and broader. i also dont like the way she sings the word burqa, it sounds annoying. The vocals on the demo are less computerized sure, but I truly dont think the song is better than the album version. For whatever reason, monsters really latched onto burqa like waaaaay before they even heard it. like ya'll were just hyped on the title and the fact that they had name dropped it. so once you finally got your hands on it you swear its gold. the album version is better lol and also the outro on the demo is so bad.....like..it doesnt even make sense musically within the context of the song...ugh....ARTPOP stans are such a bittersweet vibe to me. you ride for an album that i think is only slightly underrated but in doing so you all stan like her tackiest aesthetics lol
AJRocketMan 2,684
I'm glad she changed the title to Aura and changed the lyrics of the second half of the chorus to make it more varied, but I agree Burqa is much better. The part after the bridge when the beat starts again and the music box plays was awesome, although her repeating the Burqa lines was irritating. The final version was just really unexciting after the bridge. Also, I prefer her tone and vocal delivery on the chorus of Burqa more than Aura (I like the softer and girlier vocals), but I'm glad she kept the Burqa verses. The screaming in the Aura demo just sounded so ugly, mainly her tone. I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but the beat sounds harder/more aggressive in Burqa than it does on Aura; the mixing is slightly more flat on the final version. JustJames 1,032
I don't know how anyone can prefer Burqua/Burqa especially in the form posted in the thread's first video. My main problem with ARTPOP in general is how repetitive the songs get because it's almost like she couldn't figure out any way to incorporate the titles into the lyrics except to just say them over... and over... and over. What does she live for? Oh, yea- THE APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE! What was the name of her alter ego who enjoyed marijuana? Oh, yea- MARY! JANE! HOLLAND (Oooh, Oooh!)! Why is she okay being alone tonight? Oh, yea- she's a Gypsy, Gypsy, Gypsy, (10 minutes later) Gypsy. I hate how negative that sounds, because I love ARTPOP. But, part of why I love it is her original message. If Aura was her intended lead single, she was telling us that this album was her letting us see the true Gaga- the one beyond the meat dress, lobster heels, and bubble dress. The one who'd rather let the industry do what they want with her body than to stop the party; whose heart was beating with sticks and strings but was lucky because she loves the music and not the bling; who wanted to give us something to applaud even if it meant being alone tonight. The story of ARTPOP is most sad because the official, public release of it was comprised of 2 songs: a narcissistic anthem and a collaboration with a sexual abuser on a song with the chorus "do what you want with my body." Letting Aura introduce the album was one of the first ways I actually opened myself up to even giving this era a chance. The subtle references to the burqa was just enough to make it interesting without turning it into what this demo sounds like to me: a repetitive, redundant, and forced attempt at making a controversial symbol fit a pretty shallow theme of fashion/art. The verses sound better in some of these leaks, yes; the song dying after the 2nd chorus was a miss, yes; but, using 'Aura' as the primary metaphor and mixing 'burqa' with cover, curtain, etc. in a totally different 2nd part of the chorus makes up for those x1000. Aura is a beautiful song and I wish it not only was the lead single for this era, but that the album was actually named 'Aura' because it was a recurring theme and one that was much more accessible to the GP. It would have been really interesting to see what she could have done had her intention been to turn fashion choices into metaphors that together told her personal story to us. Like, 'Burqa' giving her the chance to hide, with a songs about (I'm no Gaga, so cut me some slack) heels = power and ego, manicures = control and detail, silk = sex and femininity... I don't know. Maybe at some point, this was her thought process. She clearly struggles to fit her thoughts within 1 framework, but I really think Aura fits much better into what ARTPOP was ultimately written and put together to tell us than Burqa.
