It took them ten years plus to admit that thousands of original masters were destroyed in a California wildfire: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/country/8517674/sheryl-crow-universal-music-fire-masters-destroyed Hmm, true. That does seem like kinda a freak accident that was out of their control tho. When you say the masters got destroyed, does that mean the contracts got burned or does that mean actual music was destroyed???

When you say the masters got destroyed, does that mean the contracts got burned or does that mean actual music was destroyed??? Unfortunately it was all of the original recordings. The ACTUAL music. So all we have now are digital copies. It affected over 700 artists, from Judy Garland to Jimmy Eat World to Sheryl Crow to Gwen Stefani. Tapes and vynil going back to the 1940s to the modern era. Approx 500,000 tracks are estimated lost: https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/8515469/universal-fire-in-2008-estimated-to-have-destroyed-500000-iconic-master Do YOU own the 4' by 6' Perfect Illusion promo Poster? He can't legally release anything he owns because Gaga's lawyers will (understandably for them) sue his pants off. (Not his words, those are my interpretations) . I met him backstage at his show in Los Angeles several years ago and interviewed him for GGD and just for myself on a lot of things. He was very open and candid and went back and forth from being understandably frustrated to apologetic. He still owns all the songs. No they aren't online, they aren't in his cloud. They are safely in an offline location. He couldn't play them for me if he wanted to. He does own them and hopes Gaga will someday agree to release them in like a 25th anniversary or 50th anniversary of the Fame or something. He said they were unique because they were demos from the Beatles/Strokes/No Doubt inspiration takes from 2006-ish. Somehow, some of these did end up leaking last year i think, Trigger, We Are Plastic, and others I frankly cant remember at this moment. omg this is amazing, I'm so jealous I hope Gaga will accept to let him release them, they can find some agreement, because I don't want that someone else will release them against their will, they both worked and gave their soul for the songs and both should be in a very good place to release them and let us enjoy it. Yes, if I recall correctly he did wish for no ill will between the two of them, and did admit that he added a lot of that because he was in a bad place with depression, addiction to alcohol, going to rehab, his name being dragged through the mud, his bad reactions to her on instagram and Twitter.... he had so much self created drama. I pitied him immensely and wanted to help him be his best self. Part of the reason along with the journey of discovery into the demos that I did so many interviews with him. Two for this site and one under a pseudonym because I was getting hate tweets and hate email for supporting him at all. I think at his core Rob is a really good guy. He just has a lot of personal problems he needs to overcome and I hope with all my heart he can resolve things with Gaga in the best way possible. I can't remember WHICH interview he said that he wished to resolve things with her in , but I know he did tell me. Face to face in person and not just on the phone. Serial Chiller 8,044
I mean it’s the reality, as it’s always been? Not even in the music only. Intellectual property created by employees for a company while under employment belongs to the company. I’m a teacher and any lesson plans/presentations/materials I submit and use to teach at the school is their property which they can subsequently reuse/modify/publish without the need for my consent. They may credit me but I don’t own it legally. Anyways, it sucks that art is having a price put on it, but that’s business, and it was consensual. So the takeaway of this scandal, if there’s any, is to support indie artists. Because major labels and major corporates always have ties and contracts to bind their employees and maximize profits. I think we all should forgive him, fame can be a mess, especially for those behind the scene and he got the success with the same bang as Gaga but at the end she was in front and he was just a shadow, so of course it would mess him up, I'm so glad he's ok now and in a better place with Gaga, I hope they'll work on a song in the future, it could be nice So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
