Personally I think we might look back at songs like Fleetwood Mac's Gypsy, and Gaga's, etc. and cringe one day... even though I love those songs now and I even dressed up as a gypsy (read: Esmeralda from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame) for Halloween as a kid... I have NEVER encountered anyone in the 'real world' who has said anything about a negative connotation. I doubt Gaga will get any kind of flack from it, really.
