AJRocketMan 2,684
Hey GGD. I am aware that everyone is expecting dark electronic pop music with black and white visuals for LG6 with a super cohesive theme and sound with mega serious music videos and performances, but... what if LG6 is not like that? What if the album artwork, single artworks, and music videos are very bright and colorful, with lots of weird graphics and trippy/busy designs? In other words, a complete and total lack of seriousness in the presentation and the expression of these artworks? Here's the best examples I could come up with for now. Cover art like this: Spoiler And music and videos like this: Spoiler I know the aesthetics I've shown here are very gaudy, but the music behind them is actually extremely awesome. And that begs the question: What if LG6 ended up being like this? Monsters and critics expect a unified project with a distinct sound all the way through... that might run the risk of monotony and multiple fillers. What if instead we ended up getting a project with a ridiculous cover art and an album (say, 15 tracks) of bright, colorful, ostentatious dance music that lacked a story or a unifying theme, but every single song on the album was an absolute banger/earworm and the music videos to accompany them were super kooky and outrageous? Would you be happy/satisfied, or would you be disappointed? What if we're expecting too much from her? It seems that the fanbase is demanding too much of her in certain aspects of her music and expecting too little of her in others. Everybody expects a mature album filled with insightful, philosophically deep lyrics, in other words poetry. Gaga is not a poet—she's never been as clever of a writer as Lana Del Rey or Bob Dylan. She's a songwriter. Her talent lies in writing striking, unique, memorable pop songs, ranging from the chorus, to the hook, to the melodies and the harmonies, to the rhythm and the flow of the songs, while still adding intellectual substance to them. Most of her songs have more depth than Lana or Bob, but they've never been as poetic as those two. LG6 will most likely feature a bunch of super catchy songs, and possibly immature ones as well. What if LG6 turned out to be the complete opposite style and aesthetic from what we currently expect of her? What if that's just not who she is? What if the album turned out to be more idiosyncratic than conceptual? After all, cohesion and overarching themes that last entire albums have never really been Gaga's strong suit. Some pretentious hipsters and critics even consider her albums to be more like mixtapes than what their idea of a "real album" is, which is a common prejudice against dance music. But what if LG6 does feel more like a mixtape than an actual album? Honestly? I'd be down with that. I would much rather have a highly flippant record that has no central theme or narrative while having a track list that is made up entirely of incredible earworms, with creative music videos, imaginative live performances, inventive avante-garde outfits, and interesting interviews. Give me a great time, not a great theme. And no, I'm not joking or trolling with this thread—I am being completely serious when I say this. I'm almost certain I'm the only one that feels this way. What are your guys' thoughts? Please keep it friendly and mature, I want an intelligent conversation and I want to see y'all use your critical thinking skills. We're all adults here. Now use those brains, bitches!
Dominic 11,922
She kinda did that with AP though with the bold colours There's not really a cohesive storyline or unified theme either. I think I'd be more shocked if she came with a cohesive album tbh. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it
Sneaky Oliver 21,996
I don’t think Gaga appreciates this kind of visuals. Even the “messy” visuals from her look very polished

Zander 14,910
That’s a very long winded way of saying the 90’s I feel like she has elements of all of this in her music and visuals anyway. EDIT: I kind of felt like AP embodied everything you’ve shown more so visually. I’d enjoy hearing something that was truly inspired by that era and not just elements because she hasn’t really done anything that reminds me of the 90’s (except ScheiBe which has 90’s house/dance vibe). AJRocketMan 2,684
Damn, I'm already getting a kick out of this! Make sure to check out the actual music on those videos guys! It's lovely dance music. 15 minutes ago, Dominic said: She kinda did that with AP though with the bold colours There's not really a cohesive storyline or unified theme either. I think I'd be more shocked if she came with a cohesive album tbh. She did. But the AP cover is messy in a tasteful and professional way, especially compared to M.I.A.'s cover art and the stuff from the '90s. And you're basically agreeing with me that Gaga's a pretty messy artist, right? 11 minutes ago, Sneaky Oliver said: I don’t think Gaga appreciates this kind of visuals. I would buy it in an instant!

mauvais 0
I don't necessarily want/need a unified album, but I am expecting something with tired ass Memphis Group and Vaporwave visuals, which I assume means I will be proven wrong

OMonster 14,667
Aesthetically, I think ARTPOP already touched on some of this. Loud, bold and noisy. Musically, I think this is the opposite of what LG6 will deliver. The truth is, Gaga is a singer. More so than ever before, she is known for her voice - and I think she will want to use that. Sure, she'll use it against an electronic backdrop, but I think she is going to want to really sing, you know? With a lot of the music you've posted, the instrumental is more defined than the vocal. And I don't think Gaga is ever going to do that again. I'm expecting a blend between BTW and Joanne for LG6... electronic music layered with rock-infused, raw vocals. Your examples are pretty far removed from that. subtext / fantasy
