I think the key word here is Performance, and Performance is heavily reliant on the artist singing it. That being said, Performance is not just about vocal delivery. The Grammys doesn't just value great vocal delivery, it also values effective singing, Shape of You might not be vocally challenging in the way Million Reasons was, but its catchiness might still be considered a strength and hence its win. Think Rihanna's Work, it has repetition and maybe it's not INLA-level singing but that doesn't mean it was performed badly.

How are we in 2019 and still receiving threats from a 2016 album. Reveal hidden contents If she wins, we will get the Joanne Reloaded - Arabella version, this should not happen! We need DarkGa with Bops so we can rule the industry again and learn the other popgirls how to snatch 'em wigs to ultimate baldness!!

I mean, Shape of You isn’t a good performance in any way. I’d love to have a song like Beyonce’s Formation or Kesha’s Woman winning the category, even though they don’t prioritize clear vocals they are great performances by the singers. Shape of You, on the other hand? Please. No family’s safe when I sashay
Wet Fire 7,580
It's the best song of the bunch IMO. The atmosphere it creates is brilliant. I hope it wins.

Its actually the opposite. ‘Pop Vocal’ doesnt mean “best voice” it just means ‘Best Pop song with spoken/sung words” people always assume they give the award to the better singer but that has nothing to do with it actually

For example David Guetta original songs can't qualify here because he features other vocalists on it. It's not won by the best vocals. They made this category more specific because there's already a category for electronic dance.
