He literally went looking for a black person to kill after asking for their skin color. What’s not clicking? You want me to praise him for it or something? Lmao all I said is that it’s common to ask what the person looked like in any crime. He also didn’t commit a crime? He realized what he was doing was insane & didn’t do it cause taking your anger out on someone who doesn’t deserve it gets you nowhere & is wrong but pop off

ryhanna 3,507
Don't get me wrong, this is dreadful and I don't think he should have shared this with the world, but I also think it's important to highlight that he's now ashamed of the way that he was acting and thinking. Which he should be. That's not to excuse it, but it is important to realise that people can change. I truly hope he has.

When I told my family about my personal experience they asked what he looked like which includes skin color & everything else. I read the whole article & I think you’re reaching quite a bit. He specifically when around looking for a black man to kill. Why not a straight man? Or more specifically, a straight black man? Why did it have to be ANY black man? That's racism, buddy. StrawberryBlond 15,198
Here is Liam's interview on Good Morning America (with a black presenter, I might add). I think it's very honest and moving and I hope you all understand him a bit better after this, now he can explain himself fully. There's also questions asked about why he only asked for the colour of skin (3:49) and if he would have had the same reaction if the rapist was white (4:07): When I first heard of this story, it was out of context - a headline last night (I didn't have the time to read the story) and a news snippet this morning. So, without knowing about what had happened to his friend, I was shocked and appalled and thought there was no defending these thoughts. But then I found out what started it all and it made me realise that it was a lot more understandable. Not acceptable, but understandable. I think it's very important to realise that what he went through was a form of mental illness, no matter how temporary. Rage can induce a form of madness. And this isn't a "when a black person commits a crime, they always intended it, when a white person commits a crime, they were mentally ill and can't be held responsible" cop-out. Anyone can experience mental illness and I really thought, in this day and age, when mental illness awareness is at the forefront of our thoughts, what he went through would have been understood by many. But instead, they seem to be examining the situation out of context and never stop to question that any other description might have set him off. For the record, I would have also had the same response if a black man wanted to murder a white man who had raped his friend. These reactions are extreme and irrational but a natural byproduct of the strong urge to protect someone you love. Luckily, not all of us get them and not everyone who gets them will always have these thoughts. Just think of anyone who's ever been mean to you or committed a crime against you. Don't you ever tense up when someone who reminds you of them in any way appears in front of you? I'm still haunted by the name of a guy who sexually harassed me years ago. His first name is something I could get over as it was so common but his surname was a bit more unusual. To the point where if I wanted to marry someone who had his surname, I would insist on keeping my own name as I couldn't stand to have his surname attached to me, a constant reminder of him. That's what grief and bad memories does to you and we've all got different ways of dealing with it. So, before you write him off as a racist, watch this and try to empathise. Understand that he made this confession of his own volition, this wasn't uncovered footage that someone sold to the media to cancel him. Usually, in instances like this, it was something said in "safe" company and the celebrity has to defend themselves when it gets uncovered. But this is a different case where he was getting out a very dark time in his life and reflects on how infected his mind was. Now, granted, I think he shouldn't have said "black b*****d." He was most likely just parrotting the thought that went through his head at the time as opposed to saying a phrase that he would use today. If he'd just said "black person," already this would have been treated somewhat differently but following it with b*****d totally intensified it. I understand in context but not everyone will. I think he was totally naive to admit it and perhaps there was a chance that he was looking for attention for it. But he approaches it all in retrospect very well. Instead of going for the jugular without a second thought, examine the evidence from a mental health point of view.

He explains why he did what he did, he understands that it was wrong & he willingly talked about it & now y’all are jumping on him calling him racist for something that happened 40 years ago & even then NOTHING HAPPENED? Lmao I can’t with this anymore. Y’all are just looking for something to be mad at. 13 hours ago, LateToCult said: This whole situation isn’t about him asking for the person’s skin color alone. Twitch a brain cell? Excuse me? Take your anger out on someone else, do not sit there & imply that I’m stupid just because I don’t want to ignorantly conform to you & everyone else intentionally looking for something to be upset at because you don’t know how to empathize & understand a situation & realize the context accurately enough to come to a sensible conclusion. This is why people who have these thoughts don’t openly talk about them & racism continues to go on because people like you are so eager to attack them & call anyone else who won’t agree to be enraged racist. But yeah, I need to “twitch a brain cell” because clearly I’m the one with the chip on my shoulder looking for any situation to use my mob mentality in 👍🏻 Congratulations
imwoahvicky 4,248
you guys are sad lmao obviously it's an awful thing to do/think about and he should be criticized for that but it's all about personal growth and he's obviously changed 💀 always jumping the gun just to "cancel ha!!!" shouldn't we encourage this type of thing where people learn to change and feel remorse for it? would you of rather him just stay a racist or something and go commit genocide? and the fact that this happened 40 years ago and it seems to be still impacting him to this day, I feel he truly regrets it and if he wanted to share it then why not? he got it out of his system at least watch the interview before you pass judgement by looking at articles and tweets with clickbaity titles that aren't the full story the man had a very traumatic experience and dealt with it in a very toxic way, he came to terms with what he wanted to do in the moment and he has learned from it. you guys are all addicted to raging about different things day by day of things that happened in the past but can't seem to accept the fact that people DO change, a big yikes to me and extremely petty and pathetic ⚜ Roll Deep ⚜
Knife 6,994
In a climate where black people are being unjustly murdered and targeted by violence, an anecdote about how you were intentionally looking to kill any black person as revenge for a crime they didn't commit won't go over well.
