Swallow 12,052
Just finished watching Green Book for the 2nd time. Watched it last year in the cinema and I was blown away - again. Since I've seen ASIB 4 times already, I came to a conclusion that Green Book is simply a better movie. Does anyone else agree with me? At first I was disappointed at ASIB losing all the awards, but I actually don't mind it losing to this beautiful film. I'd be happy if Green Book or ASIB win Best Picture. However, Spoiler ASIB was definitely robbed at the GG. Enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody, but c'mon, ASIB deserved to win Best Drama, and Bradley deserved to win Best actor! Es solo una paja entre colegas
Red 97,870
lesbionest, ASIB shines when it comes to acting and music, but it lacks a lot in plot I don’t think it stands a chance when it comes to Best Picture at all If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. WorstBehavior 1,141
Green Book is not winning Best Picture anymore. Too much controversy surround it. They’ll be awarded for Best Supporting Actor tho. I only see Roma or A Star Is Born winning.
Sorcerer 12,462
I loved Green Book. It's on my top five of 2018. But ASIB for me has more emotional depth despite some editing flaws. Green Book is very feel-good, that's why many critics called it a surface level and shallow analysis of racism and all other issues it tackled in the film. The film just presents the social issue, but it does not do anything about it. BlacKkKlansman is a better film about racism in that case.
Didymus 34,379
There were many better films than ASIB this year I hope nobody is shocked to hear that. It was a great movie, though, and it deserves to be acclaimed, but others simply deserve to win big more. ASIB simply doesn't stand a chance, quality wise, against Roma, Burning, The Favourite, First Reformed,... I'll be happy if it wins anyway, but that means other films would've been snubbed lol. zakariah 11,712
haven’t watched most of the potential oscar nominees yet but i’m waiting for them to be out in HD so that I can better judge them by the time oscars come along
Fernster7 7,919
This Roma movie is so overrated my god, it reminds me of The Revenant. The lead actress is fantastic tho. Monsters never die.

Serial Chiller 8,044
lmao no Green Book is overrated as heck. Ali is great but the story flow and characterization is pretty meh. Have a hard time believing how a hardline racist like the driver would just change in a heartbeat.
Wet Fire 7,202
Many films released last year were better than ASIB. As some people already pointed out in this thread. ASIB has superb acting. But the plot is just not great, though the story is great. The editing is not strong enough. ROMA has a big chance of winning Best Picture at Oscars. GB might win it as well. ferretti 5,808
Green Book is good, but not great. It’s an unrealistic, lifetime-style look at race through the lens of a white character that is basically impossible to believe. Did the overall story happen, yes, are either of these characters believable considering the time and context, no. The movie relies on really basic understanding of race in the time, exclusively uses stories from the rascist white character and layers cliche and absurd character growth on top of one another throughout. After I saw it I was charmed, but thought this movie is incredibly basic and probably written by white people who didn’t care. Turns out, it was. It deserved much better. Also, quality wise, it pales by comparison to ASIB. ASIB has a simple and focused story with a script that is often just meh. However, it nails its characters and growth. It takes itself seriously and honestly. Then you add phenomenal directing, cinematography, music, music performed live in the moment and everything else - and to me, you have a film much more worthy of Best Picture than something like Green Book. disco stick tester, inquire within
