It's one of those songs that will be continuously in use on shows like America's Got Talent etc., it's that perfect tv background song and I've seen it used on Belgian shows, of all countries, like 20x already since its release I think Shallow is having its moment now and it might become a karaoke duet classic but I don't know... I think there's something so "un-Gaga" about it that it might fade faster because of it After some more pop singles being released by her I don't think people will remember that song as one of Gaga's big ones, you know what I'm saying? 37 minutes ago, Chop said: Applause is more "Gaga" than Shallow, more recognizable and more popular. Also Applause sold WW a lot (I think 5 million) Do you think that after C2C, Joanne and ASIB people are still looking for "Gaga" in Gaga's music? erfaan 2,836
Not even comparable. Shallow is her biggest song EVER in some countries including Australia.

If she delivers it cool, but if she doesn't it won't change much.

ode 1,530
Okay, but like, three non-pop/non-dance albums into her career, is it right to still define the "Gaga" sound on her older records? I know LG6 is all but confirmed to be dark, futuristic techno industrial (... et al) pop, but a part of me just can't believe it after all the years of waiting. anyway. shallow. applause. no, shallow-applause. both. they will both be legendary for the rest of time. Biggest Bitch 5,230
Applause is still a flop Worst lead single choice ever, after Perfect Illusion. Yeah it peaked #4, but just because of her previous big hit. If applause had been the first single of her career, it wouldn't even exist on the charts. FfFfFfFF 56,330
Worldwide it's Shallow, then Applause. Shallow has more more #1 ones across the globe and performed better in major markets, we can't argue on that. But both are Gaga's most successfull songs since 2013. Then why did Marry The Night peak at #29? Honestly, the worst lead single choice was PI, she didn't promote it at all and it doesn't give a great representation of Joanne that much. I love PI, but it shouldn't have been the first single, it should be a single.
