I'm talking about jazz being pop again. Imo Joanne and asib helped country music to some extent not to be overshadowed by hip hop. Guest Posted October 9, 2018 Share Posted October 9, 2018 I think the most potential for Jazz coming into the mainstream at the moment is via the rising R&B and Soul genre; people such as Kali Uchis or Mac DeMarco who are gaining quite large followings. I don't think C2C-type jazz will make a comeback for decades to come. I myself can't get into C2C; there's a type of jazz that I like, a sort of funky and wavy jazz, but C2C jazz seems to be more like what I think of as 'Disney' jazz; really happy and slightly poppy jazz which I imagine being from an old Disney movie. So, no, I don't think Gaga will be able to pull Jazz into the mainstream but I hold out hope for more alternative artists. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
