StarstruckIllusion 52,572
Lol what? The majority of the top comments I see are people dragging Sean Penn. and even if there was a lot of hate towards Gaga, it was way worse in the past, and it should never be a reason why anyone should quit music. Plus from my perspective the GP opinion of her is she’s weird yet talented and country. And publicly dragging her isn’t common anymore. She just got her most liked tweet saying she loved Demi, with 500k likes, too, so the GP knows it’d be messy to come for Gaga at least, bc she’s so liked in 2018. Arturo 40,746
it's better for her to be massive and praised (like during the SB 2017 and 2016 National Anthem and during Coachella) then completely outside of the public eye like she was in 2012 and people would say "Lady Gaga? What happened to her?" If you don't want her to be criticized then you would want her to be mainstream. Because if she goes under the radar again like in 2012 she'll be subject to those "is she still a thing?" comments which is far worse than what she's getting now. Since the halftime show her GP likability has been at an all time high.
zakariah 11,718
Literally the type of people dragging Gaga are conservatives, trump supporters, bitter stans & homophobes. All of these people's opinions really don't matter at all because they're dragging for the sake of dragging. Most people don't have a problem with Gaga anymore. Now, don't get me wrong, she is still incredibly popular, but she isn't mainstream. Ariana is mainstream, Justin Bieber is mainstream, Selena Gomez is mainstream, Rihanna, Bruno, etc. etc. Those people are today's mainstream artists. Now, while everyone knows who Lady Gaga is (clearly), she's not as popular or relevant as she once was, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just the way things are. To address the OP though, artists (no matter if they're underground or the most popular ones in the world) will always receive criticism, a lot of the times unnecessary ones too. It's just part of the job. Some of it is legitimate but most of it is unwarranted and honestly just comes from people who don't have anything better to do in their lives besides bringing other people down. Now, it's incredibly difficult and often times it can be devastating to the artist and their fans, but it's an inherent part of being in the spotlight. someone that had one of the best selling albums of 2017, a chart topping massive tour, a Platinum/#1 album, and a Top 5 single, and has been #1 on the Billboard Artist 100 in 2016 and 2017 is mainstream. You're just naming people (bar Selena I guess) who are more chart successful than her. Just because those artists are more mainstream doesn't erase the fact that Gaga herself is. She comes in in waves though. If she's at a big event or doing a big performance you'll have a couple of days where people love her, but then the rest of the time people just tend to forget about her. Most of the things you mentioned are because of those big events (i.e. the Super Bowl). If anything she's become more respected than a mainstream artist, which I'm totally fine with. In my opinion, she doesn't necessarily need to be mainstream. After changing her image, doing jazz and acting and having more vocally intensive/impressive performances, she's been able to change people's perception of her. Once again, I'm not saying that she isn't popular because she certainly is, but at this current time, she isn't mainstream. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
Wolf 1,328
I want her to be critically acclaimed, but not liked by everyone. If you know what I mean. I just want her to be appreciated and highly respected. As if no one would hate her because she is THAT good. I don't want every people jumping on the gaga bandwagon just as everyone worships beyonce I mean, i love beyonce and she's amazing but c'mon, the hype and praise surrounding is tiring. She's not a god

Not every star is "as relevant as they once were". Gaga is still relevant, but there's a new line of pop stars (most of which are bland and ugly) but still. She's broken records and won prestigious awards while still being "irrelevant" to people because they deem her to be a "flop". LOLOL. The focus is not entirely off of her and her peers who debuted at the same time just because there's a tone of press around new artists, jeez. Vitleysingur 13,789
It was cool to hate Lady Gaga back in the day, even though a lot of straights were bopping to her songs and dancing in circle.mp3 to her music videos in basememts. Why can't she have success and acclaim both? Dreams of you and me are in the dirt.

They are 99.9% trolls who have nothing better to do than attack people for no reason and with no merit behind it. Its always the negative people that scream the loudest. YouTube comments, Facebook comments are not indicative of how the GP feels. A person who purposely searches for Gaga videos to call her ugly illustrates a beyond irrelevant perspective that isn’t taken seriously anyway. From my perspective, I think she has repaired her image greatly and is becoming more and more respected as an artist as time goes on. ⚯͛
Killa 17,461
Okay. I got a bit insecure there with some comments. But its funny the diversity in this thread. I dont deem her popular at all. But im from europe. In my perspection isnt a big name anymore. Which is good cause she can "discovered" again. But not everyone shares this thought. I think its differen having a big plataform from being popuplar. And this is the main issue. The damage comes mostly from btw era where promotion was in your face. Even now the internet complainers will say no one is asking for her. Be them lonely forty jerkers. Closeted 30 or whatever the people will read the comments and it inadvertably affects your perception little by little.

Once again, I'm not saying that she's not incredibly popular, but a lot of the time when people talk about Lady Gaga, they always reference her back in TF/TFM and BTW days. I don't see anyone (regarding the general public) talking about ARTPOP, or C2C, or Joanne, or ASIB, etc., etc. Just look at reaction videos on YouTube, there are so many people that are constantly surprised by what Gaga is doing these days. The focus is not entirely off of her, yes, but the focus seems to only be on her—to the general public—when she's doing a big event. She comes in waves in today's industry: you'll have people love her one minute, then forget about her until she does something spectacular again (i.e. the Super Bowl). This isn't a bad thing, but to say that she's just as mainstream as she was back then is a stretch. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
