I don't see how this is in any way better... just more room to make the nominees more "diverse" lol

Are you trying to convince yourself that Beck outsold Beyoncé in 2013? :ohwell:

Oh wow, one exception from 5 years ago :chica:

This /\

I am quite sure the voters will pick artists having diversity in mind, instead of quality or deserving

it's also funny because last year they wanted to be all diverse but forgot about the women and got sh*tstormed anyways lol  Either do it right or just let it be...

Doesn't matter if the most popular and basic song is gonna win :neyde:

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

I’m conflicted.

On one hand, this gives an opportunity for more songs/albums to receive recognition.

On the other hand, won’t this mean that the winning album will possibly receive less votes from the committee of voters? For example, with more entries, an album now could win with a lesser percentage of votes, right? That could have negative side effects.

In the best song written for visual media category, if a track is released in the current eligibility year (Oct. 1-Sept. 31), but the soundtrack album is not released until the following eligibility year, the track will be eligible for Grammy consideration in the following year so long as it is not submitted in any category in the current year.

This directly affects the lead single off the A Star Is Born soundtrack but I think it's best to release the single this year since the hype next year will be significantly smaller than the end of this year. The movie and soundtrack are gonna be huge this year. However it also means that the soundtrack will only be nominated at the 2020 Grammys.

Don't worry, it will be released in time for the GRAMMYs 2019. It's obvious + the single is probably coming even earlier

I can see the single being released before October but not sure about the soundtrack though. Some people say it comes out during or after the movie release which means it will not be eligible for 2019 Grammys.

If they did this in 2014 ARTPOP could have ggot an AOTY nomination

No because Gaga didn’t even submit anything from ARTPOP.

It still wouldn’t have. Prism, My EVerything, or Bangerz would have taken the other pop slots.

Arturo

So basically if they would have implemented this a year earlier Joanne would have been an AOTY nominee and MR a SOTY nominee. Wow we lost.

Gaga did submit ARTPOP to Pop album and Album of the Year for the 2015 awards. It just didnt get nominated. The person you quoted is still wrong though. They would have chosen Katy over Gaga.
