Was PI Really A Flop?

Yes, however we can all agree that it was her least promoted lead single. It deserved at least 1 or 2 televised performances (I'm not counting the Japanese shows) and to be included in her Halftime Show as well. The GP needed a warmup to Gaga's sound change and I don't think the radio interviews helped a lot towards that.

It's not a flop to me personally. It's my favourite ever Gaga song and I play it all the time.

I think it wasn't the right sound for the gp because it was too loud. Even fans on GGD took time to like it. I think as the song is a grower it was never given a proper chance because the gp always move on fast and so do the radios unfortunately. I remember when she debuted it on Radio 1. You could tell just by listening that Rick Grimshaw wasn't feeling it.

I've learnt not to care anyway. It's like a hidden gem just for us. If the rest of the world can't see what a masterpiece it is, it's their loss.

The definition of flop before the gays ruined it was s high debut and a sharp decline right afterwards. That is exactly what happened to Perfect Illusion. It was a huge flop. It even peaked at #1 in France, and fell to #46 the next week…

EDIT: it was actually 96. Sis fell 95 spots. Smh

Yeah it flopped

It's kind of crazy to see Monsters expectations in term of what we can call a hit in LG's discography is dicreasing from an era to another.

Applause was already considered as a disappointment in charts at that time just saying, so PI ? :cryga:

Thissss so much. I remember back then Applause was a "flop". Then again, everyone was comparing it to Roar wich didnt help. And now our standars for a hit is Million Reasons, wich did good but not as great as her other hits

Uhhh do you know how charts work? Debuts mean nothing if the song eventually has peaks much higher on the Hot 100. So yes PI was her 2nd biggest flop behind G.U.Y.

Yes I’m aware, I was just wondering do other consider it a flop.

For Perfect Illusion to debut at #15 shows that Gaga and/or her team only needed to promote the song a bit more for it to enter into the Top 5.

2nd week: 96 :selena:

3rd week: out

Still an underrated bop tho :selena:

I wanna move to France just to feel that Gaga had a #1 even after Born This Way :selena:

Yeah Million Reasons is a hit that was a lot boosted by SB halftime show. Let's see if she can get another top 10 next era without that exposure though...

I'm sure LG will have other big hits in her career, but let's not be happy by the performance in charts of PI. It tanked hard, it's reality. She can just do better in charts. Let's not deny this. And that's not  a huge deal to me. Like I said flops and hits happen to any artists at different times of their career. It's not a shame to underperform...

True I’ve noticed the same thing. Maybe cause we experienced her peak eras and currently awaiting for another.

It was virtually impossible for it to go Top 5 during its debut week even with promo. After that it fell out of the Top 40 and no amount of promo would have put it back into the Top 20 with the way the public and radio were responding to it.

I'm sure she'll have another peak (not has high that TF / TFM / BTW but I'm sure she'll get another very successful era with some top 10)

You should compare it with other lead singles, doesn't make much sense to compare it to a single like GUY

It did kinda flop -- and for that I will never forgive the gay community

Moebius

It debuted #1 on France and then fell to #99 or something the next sis ☠

It was a MASSIVE flop worldwide but it still is a godly bop so... doesnt matter now

Yes it did flop

1) just Dance was released when Gaga wasn’t famous. So it was a sleeper hit.

2) LoveGame and paparazzi were released when Gaga had 2 smash singles prior but still needed promotion.

3) telephone wasn’t a lead single nor wasalekabrto and you and I

4) marry The night flopped

5) GUY is her biggest flop of all time so

doesnt matter tho PI is a BOP
