lmao this fanbase needs to understand this isn't La La Land or Greatest Showman or Avengers.

yes "Lady Gaga" is in it, but it's not being marketed as her movie debut. It's not a blockbuster, or a super high profile release. From what we see now and have heard all this months, it's being rolled out as a cute small studio ready for awards season. This doesn't mean it's going to flop, and of course Gaga is going to be paraded around for promo and stuff, but people seriously need to adjust their expectations and let it be.

Comparing it to The Greatest Showman, a winter blockbuster featuring original songs and an all star cast, is ridiculous.

A massively anticipated sequel to a highly praised modern mainstream animated movie getting more views than the 4th remake of a cult hit? Unheard of :what:

3rd remake :ohwell:

lmao you mean a movie with an $85M budget, $150M marketing costs (including live TV primetime performances) and a primed Christmas release?

okay

regardless of what you consider a blockbuster to be, the fact is that ASIB's budget was probably less than a third of Showman's, has less bankable stars, is rated R, will not have such a high profile marketing campaign and is going to aggressively target awards season. comparing the two is senseless

True but I want the movie to make an impact and to be acknowledged fully.

By this point I'm already tired of people saying that every possible film ever is "shallow and bad" even if it gets like 5 Oscars

Spoiler

I came back after 1 year of inactivity and BAM notifications after 2 minutes of posting :sis:

La La Land should be what we focus our comparisons on

Greatest Showman is probably a more realistic benchmark
