Bradley 57,126
We keep hearing this - 'The Grammys love Taylor Swift. The Grammys love Adele. The Grammys are comprised of middle-aged white men who have no appreciation for female artists. The Grammys won't let a black artist win Album of the Year.' I'm just curious, do you think the Grammys really exercise favoritism while nominating/awarding? 'Oh it's Taylor Swift/Adele we've got to nominate her.' 'We need to let Adele win because we don't want Kendrick or Beyonce winning.' Who do you think the Grammys favor the most? I mean why on earth would they favour one artist over another? Why do they love Taylor and not Katy? Who do you think suffer from this situation? Are Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Ariana Grande suffering from this or is it simply because they have not released Grammyworthy material yet? What is Gaga's position in all of this? Is she one of the lucky ones who is adored by the Grammys or is she a victim of this (losing to Ed Sheeran)? Do you think the Grammys are still credible? Are they still awarding quality and deserving music/artists or have they lost their credibility as a whole? If yes, why? What's your stance in this? Luxe Ford 3,481
It's not that I know anyone in the jury or have any insight in the nomination process, but I'm sure there's some bias and record company licking up at work there. Is it enough to make them (hmm...incredible is wrong) lose their credibility? Only as long as people care deeply about the Grammys. Do they? They have two upcoming songs to be released this year. One of them has a 4/6 beat, so impossible to dance to, but I'm perched for the other one. If The Chainsmokers can win a grammy, I don’t think we can no longer say that any of these girls haven’t released Grammy Worthy material. And as of Gaga, we are “lucky” she has 6. Madonna has been doing music for over 30 years and only has 7 and Mariah Carey 5. Yes, favoritism does exist with the Grammys. How can Taylor Swift have 10 Grammys & Beyoncé and Kanye West have over 20 wins. But Queen, Bob Marley, Bjork, Depeche Mode, Jimi Hendrix, Tupac, etc.. have none? I’m actually nice. Ryusei 60,798
I mean essentially it's the opinion of what a group of people (the grammy voters) like most and that's it. If you think about it it's kind of odd why this is supposed to be the highest prestige music award... Until last year I actually thought the Grammys are the biggest thing but honestly after last year... they were just trying so hard to please everyone but forgot about the women so they were shitstormed either way Musery

I like born This Way a lot more, but that’s not a good example, cause Adele deserved to win those awards. A better example is Adele winning everything in 2017. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Starbucks 4,204
What is Gaga's position in all of this? I don't know where she was, but to my knowledge she was used as a rating bait Your everyday cups of kindness
GypsyBabe 22,836
Somewhat, I am sure. Luck plays a role as well. I just think people put too much of an emphasis on what a Grammy means. A grammy equating to being the “most talented of the year” is a skewed narrative. Sure, winning is nice on paper, but there are so many music powerhouses and icons that never won one. Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Ramones, Guns N’ Roses, The Who, Björk are all legendary but never brought home the award. I have always enjoyed the Grammy’s for the perforamces and possible wins for my favorite music, but I was really mad after this years show. It was so blatantly pandering and sexist, and was a mess. In the future I may not even watch (unless Gaga is performing of course). ⚯͛
