Best Actress (Long Shot: Lady Gaga)

Best Actor (Bradley is not included in their predictions)

They're predicting Black Panther to be the frontrunner of almost all categories, which could be inaccurate since Wonder Woman was also predicted to get nominations when it was not. Superhero movies are rarely nominated, unless the Oscars makes a really rare exception, Black Panther should not be nominated.

Spoiler

Addition: A Star Is Born - 38th place (IMDB prediction)

Now can we please get the trailer

Julianne Moore, Rachel McAdams and Toni Collette being in the "long shot" category makes me somehow okay with them putting Gaga in there also. That means that IndieWire doesn't predict sh-t.

Maybe Gaga won't win. But I'm hoping for at least a nomination.

And since we know Oscars are popularity contest, she has a very SHORT shot to get noticed.

Spoiler

maybe she can pull a Bey and buy the award. :usrs:

It's good that even before all the award campaigning that this film has already been noticed by experts and predictors. If the movie turns out to be as good as Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley, Robert DeNiro, Sean Penn, Barbra Streisand said, then it has a very good chance at being nominated by the Academy.

Everything is in the movie's favour right now.

Do you think they won't nominate a cast of all black people?

They will since Get Out was also a horrible movie :interestinga:

Experts also predicted Million Reasons and Joanne to snatch the Grammys and we all know how that went. :gaycat:

I agree that the best actress nomination is a long shot. It doesn't seem to be an Oscar worthy type of role tbh. I think the biggest chance they have to win something is with the Soundtrack, and then maybe Bradley as a director. Although I would be more than pleased if the movie just gets a few big nominations because that's such an achievement still and non-winners aren't really losers at the Oscars.

Given how the nomination process works, if they do a good enough job getting noticed and people (academy members) interested in watching the movie then it very well could get more nominations! Since actors nominate actors, if Gaga gets good word of mouth that could spur people to give her performance a watch and at the very least get nominated. I think it’s way too early to say that, but there is a way of it happening.

I didn't say that. :rip: I said superhero films rarely get a Best Picture nomination. I made it so clear in my original post and you totally missed that.

No they didn't. They predicted a nomination but predicted Divide and Shape of You would win, which turned out to be accurate.

Til It Happens to You however is a different story. :emma:

Actually Sean Penn just praised both Bradley and Gaga's acting today. I'm not saying Gaga's totally getting nominated but her performance must have been not bad.

This is promising tbh I’m more excited for the movie and to hear the soundtrack too. Hopefully she does a promotional tour for the movie too worldwide and does some press conferences for it.

if it’s a good movie it can open her up to more acting opportunities tbh. As for the BP reference I hope it doesn’t get a nom just to appease people, I was excited for it before but the first half of the film is horrid and definitely not Oscar worthy
