Video of Israeli Sniper Shooting Unarmed Palestinian is genuine

Featured Posts

As protesters rush to evacuate the man who was hit, the soldier who made the recording boasts, “What a fabulous video!” Another soldier can be heard saying, “Wow, somebody was hit in the head.” Moments later, when one soldier says that he didn’t see what happened, a colleague laughs as he says the protester who was shot “flew in the air.”

Despite the claim that someone was shot in the head, and the fact that two protesters were killed on that day, the army said its preliminary investigation indicated that the protester in the video had been hit in the leg, after other means of dispersing “violent riots” in a part of Gaza adjacent to the Israeli community of Kissufim had failed.

The soldier who recorded the shooting, the military added, was not part of the unit that fired on the unarmed protester and now faces punishment for “unauthorized filming” and “distribution” of the video. The banter and comments heard on the recording, the army said, “do not suit the degree of restraint expected of IDF soldiers and will be dealt [with] by commanders accordingly.”

Despite the army’s statement of disapproval, senior Israeli officials went out of their way to defend the behavior of the soldiers caught on video laughing and cheering.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman told reporters that he, too, celebrated the shooting, even if the fact that it was recorded was unfortunate. “The Gaza sniper deserves a decoration, and the photographer a demerit,” he said.

“We have reached a level of insanity and delusion,” Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan told Israeli radio. “To take a situation from the battlefield, when soldiers are under stress and explosive devices are being thrown at them and attempts are being made to infiltrate, and to take their human response and judge them from the armchairs in Tel Aviv?”

“What’s all the fuss about?” asked Oren Hazan, from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party. “Anyone who approaches the fence, armed or not, is gonna get it. As it should be!”

This is so horrible...as someone who is part Jewish I am ashamed by Israel in general. It's gotten to a disgusting point. Zionists have gone too far. I even have some relatives there who literally feel superior to Palestinians and it breaks my heart how brainwashed they have become while living there...ugh.

It makes me feel shitty at times because I have so many jewish friends that are all around such great people that are sadly, at least on a worldwide scale, represented or linked to such a violent state. This needs to stop.

Yeah it is so heartbreaking. Israel does not represent all Jews and yet everyone thinks so because it has hijacked Jewish identity and molded it into a extremist Zionist, violent, apartheid ridden state. It acts as the representative of all Jews and it's so wrong. I know some of my Jewish friends don't want to be associated with an Israel that acts the way it does right now. If Israel does better then we will be supportive of it but for now...there's no way in HELL I can sit here and shame other Middle Eastern countries for their extreme violence and not condemn Israel's own version of violence towards Palestinians (both Christian and Muslim Palestinians).

Just because you saw a video of a stupid soldier shooting a Palestinian and acting as against the rules does not mean it's supported or encouraged by Israel or the army.

I am from Israel and I sure do not feel superior to the Palestinians so you're already wrong with your ridiculous generalization.

There is far more then just that one example though. :oprah:

Also where did I say this was a general consensus among all Israelis? I'd NEVER make that generalization. I said among my family members who live there they feel that way unfortunately and it is disgusting and I am embarrassed and ashamed of that. I did not say it was what all Israelis felt so do not label me as someone who generalizes. Shame on you.

There are many examples of the Israeli army punishing soldiers for shooting against the rules. One of the most known one is the Hebron Shooting Incident. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebron_shooting_incident The soldier was sent to jail.

" it breaks my heart how brainwashed they have become while living there...ugh."

You're attempting to make it seem like people in Israel are "brainwashed".  Most of Israel citizens actually support a Palestinian state.

"Zionists have gone too far"- you're generalizing all Zionists to this incident. Again, this is inciting and simple not accurate.

It does not matter that they punish AFTER the fact. What's done is done and it is wrong. I've had it with people trying to ALWAYS minimize any attack on Palestinians. Whenever Palestinians attack there is a huge uproar and when it is Israel there always somehow seems to be excuses. Enough is enough.

---

No I said THEY were brainwashed when they went there. I never mentioned that it was because ALL of Isralis are like that. To elaborate (even though I shouldn't), they have gone to a region that is VERY conservative and VERY anti Arab.

--

And no I later further elaborated in the other post "EXTREMIST Zionists" PLZ read more before trying to label someone. What you did was wrong and what you are doing is trying to grasp at straws to find offence in what I said because you did not like the general message which was that as someone who is part Jewish I am not very proud of the current state of Israel. I am entitled to my opinion on that.

No one is saying what happened is not wrong. But this specific incident is not encouraged or supported by Israel or the army.

So it's like blaming your country because of the murderers in it. These soldiers will be punished.

"Whenever Palestinians attack there is a huge uproar and when it is Israel there always somehow seems to be excuses."- If you're speaking about how the international media reacts then this is extremely false.

If one Israeli soldier acts against the rules and shoots a Palestinian, it gets media coverage all around the world (and rightfully so).

But if a Palestinian sneaks into a house and murders an entire family including a little girl who was at her sleep then it gets little to no reaction.

I don't know where you live but the world is blaming Israel most of the time. When truthfully, like in any war, there are two sides. And if you ask me? The terror organizations that run the Palestinian state and Gaza are far more radical but that's a different story.
