Tbh I don't think it would have affected her career too much. Telephone would be a top 5 hit regardless (she was still riding off that Poker Face - Paparazzi moment), and if Bad Romance would have been released the second single it also would've gone top 2 and still become her signature song. The only difference is that it woul have higher chances to go #1. The TFM era was perfectly executed the way it was, so much, that switching up the places of the lead and the second single wouldn't have changed anything imo.

This is what I've been saying and people don't seem to get

No.. I love the song and bey but telephone doesn't have enough strength to be a lead. Hell it barely had enough strength to be a single

how?? it went number 1 on the pop radio chart and hit #3 on the main chart :oprah:

Just glad Slay-jandro got some recognition that era (and for eras/live performances to come).

But, on topic, BR was seemingly the only way to go for a lead.

I recall stanning TikTok and BR...gosh, gotta miss the 2008-2012/2013-ish pop scene.

It was the attraction and the video the actual song has ganard a lot of criticism and hate from the LM fanbase and the beyhive. I made a thread about it

I disagree when the song first became a single I only heard positive things about. And clearly the GP liked it because like I said earlier it did go #1 on pop radio. It had nothing to do with the video

i think it was the better choice to start in "round two" with a single as a standalone artist and not with the help of beyonce. it was important for her at that time to be known for great music herself and not just with help of a bigger (at least at that time)superstar.

plus the video back to back with paparazzi would have hit the same "style" two times in a row what might have calmed her "expect the unexpected" mysterious image a bit.
