Breaking news in the fashion world: after a 4 years successful tenue at Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane is now headed to Céline after Phoebe Philo's departure last December. He will oversee all collections produced by the house along with introducing couture, men's fashion and fragrances.

He will commence his role in February of this year, with the first collection debuting at Paris Fashion Week in September.

This decision is so interesting to me. Phoebe is such an innovative designer and I appreciated her minimalistic approach to the brand, however this is good news to hear for the most part. What I'm hoping is that instead of deteriorating what Philo did, he should make further advances to her contributions to the brand.

Then you can wait for a while. They say that Karl is bounded to Chanel, and has to work for Chanel, till the day he dies.

Chanel doesn't fit Hedi though. Personally I prefer he'd go back to menswear where he truly shines.

And he's 84. We can't blame him or anyone for starting to thing about the future.

I would've been curious to see his vision for it, since it doesn't really fit his universe, indeed. But since there isn't a huge history for Chanel menswear (and the rumors were about him introducing a menswear line for the house for a start), he would've been free to create something fairly new in an otherwise very codified house.
