Britney is a complete different artist and a complete different person. Britney literally has no say in half the things she does, she’s under conservatorship and she has two kids to think about. Obviously she’s not going to tour everywhere. Gaga is still in her prime, doing a Vegas Residency doesn’t mean she’s at the end of her touring career. People love to make something big out of something so minuscule

Katy's biggest concert: São Paulo 2015: 35k

Madonna did over 5 sold out stadiums in 2008 across Rio & São Paulo. Single Country. Any other country where she did anything like this??? Oh, maybe Argentina. Oh that's also South America.

Gaga in São Paulo 2012 was one of the biggest crowds ever for BTWB in a single show.

No way you can point pop music is not popular here. Of course national artists get way more promo and sell out easily, their tickets probably won't cost the same amount of the national wage. YES, SHE COULD ACTUALLY DO THINGS CHEAPER. Like her WAGE for performing at these acts. Do you know what costs to book a lady gaga concert? over 1 million.

Then it gotta pay Gaga herself + her team + production + every promoter. OF COURSE IT WILL BE EXPENSIVE. And of course they could make things cheaper.

You would need to spent like over $300 to get another ticket "for free". General Admission for STADIUMS were sold out in minutes, and then Gaga x Madonna with few weeks between both. The difference is that Madonna announced her dates February 2012 while Gaga announced July 2012. 4 months before only. 

 

 

I think the thread owner did something nice. And I also imagine for other small countries in Europe how hard it must be to know that she'll be "around" but not coming to your place, and I Know how expensive it really is to get plane tickets. How expensive it is to book hotels. How expensive the tickets will be after all this.

I sympathise, I really do.

But I cannot help but think this was a business decision on her managements part. If she doesn’t sell well in South America then the tour statistics will take a hit and negative press stories will arise etc. For example, the tour budget will take a hit if she brings in half numbers (apart from Brazil) - we all know how expensive the tour is. 

If there is no demand, unfortunately there is incentive to tour.

Doesn't Mexico City have the highest concentration of Gaga listeners in a single area, for Spotify?

Although her market may not be as huge down in Latin America as it is in North America, I sometimes think her team forgets she still has a big following there.

yep, and yet she's been ignoring Mexico since BTW   its literally crossing her country and she doesnt care, if she kees doing this she will lose a lot of fans from LA and Asia, some countries deserve better tbh. During the PRISM era she lost a lot of fans to Katy Perry cuz she did went to a lot of places and ppl didnt felt ignored

Idk why ppl think LA only listen reggaeton when other ww artists have come and get sold out, the demand is there, she just hates go to other place if it aint Europe or Us

Yes, in 2009-2011 when Gaga had world domination over music. Try selling out a 30,000 stadium now in places like Costa Rica, Panama, Chile or Argentina with Joanne and see how that goes 

Also, IDK why mentioning other artists is relevant? Different artists get different demands. you´re just throwing out numbers of past years as if they were comparable. Gaga is not a streaming force, nor selling force in most Latin American countries TODAY. She used to be, thats why TMB and BTWB were brought to some countries (and the BTWB was borderline flopping). 

in order for pop music to be "a hit" in a latin american realm, it has to be MASIVE ala "uptown funk", "havanna" "despacito" "cheap thrills", where the song is EVERYWHERE. Most pop artist who travelled to latin america are currently in a VERY succesful era. Justin Beiber had Purpose, Bruno Mars had 24K Magic, Katy Perry had PRISM etc...and even if that were the case, people usually only know singles, not albums. Joanne would literally be known just for Million Reasons. The actually following of albums comes from little cute fan clubs dedicated to each artist that are not enough to fill a 30,000 stadium. 

Also, you say that the tickets are too expensive...why do you think that is? To cover the cost of bringing the show there, therefore, no, they cant make tickets cheaper because otherwise who´s gonna pay to have the stage fly overseas? who´s gonna pay the local constructors who assemble the stage? who´s gonna pay the national concert promoters? I dont know how it works in America and Europe, but at least here in my country, evry single ticket gets an additional tax that specifically goes to paying the stadium services. A 20 dollar ticket is obligated to cost $35 by stadium politics to pay all these workers, and if they lower ticket prices then the profit wont be significant, resulting in the question: why even bring the show there?
