Guest Posted December 4, 2017 Share Posted December 4, 2017 I've always thought this since i first watched the Perfect Illusion music video but im just now sharing my thoughts and i tried my best to put it into words. Personally, i feel as though there is a significance to the now iconic mic swing in the beginning of the Perfect Illusion music video. I feel that it represents Gaga proclaiming herself as a true musician and artist. In a simplistic way, Perfect Illusion was the start of her first major era since the ARTPOP album cycle, She "may not be flawless" but shes got the talent and voice beneath it all (A diamond heart) so if you come for her youll have to go through her Mic Swing which is her voice, talent, artistry, creativity. We know that much of her musical inspirations are based on rock, and I just think she does the mic swing in order to try and resemble and emulate that "rock-esque" feel.
