itsdominik 16,845 Posted October 17, 2017 Share Posted October 17, 2017 Helmut Graupner, the president of the Austrian LGBT rights organisation has shared very exciting news today: After he had negotiated with the Austrian constitutional court about same-sex marriage and gay rights in general for years, the constitutional court is ready to redefine the term „marriage“ and accepts that the fact that same-sex couples aren‘t allowed to marry is indeed a discrimination. The constitutional court now demands the federal government to take action within the upcoming weeks and expects a final decision in december. In addition to that, Alexander Van Der Bellen, the president of Austria, also demands marriage equality. (The constitutional court also single-handedly legalized the civil union back in 2010) According to Helmut Graupner, same-sex marriage could be legalized as soon as January 2018 in Austria if everything goes right! 🌈 Wish us luck! If the constitutional court decides on marriage equality law, the conservative partys have to accept it. The constitutional court wants to get it legalized finally, because it is against human rights to not have it legalized in their mind (rightly so) -- our gouverment is right-wing and full of sh*t tbh (Heinz-Christian Strache is a former Neo-Nazi [!!!], Sebastian Kurz a conservative demagogue/populist -- both of them as well as their parties FPÖ and ÖVP are AGAINST gay marriage -- all other parties are for it but these two always voted against it in the latest years again and again, it's so frustrating!)
