Why does everybody think Gaga is old?

She always looked 10 years older. During Born This Way era she looked 30 - 35. Now she looks 40. Not a bad thing she's beautiful tho.

I think she  dresses up to make herself look older which is basically contrary to what everyone else is doing. in fashion magazines a lot of the girls are actually girls like 14 or something but people think they are 20 or something. so then this makes a lot of women insecure and they try to look younger than they are. so maybe this has something to do with it. maybe she thinks she wouldn't get taken seriously if she looked her age and wants to get thru to an older audience that could have dismissive attitudes towards what younger people say.

People also often think Adele is well into her 30s even when her albums say her age.

I never really liked age as a concept like birthdays are a bit weird. when someone thinks you are an age it is pretty messed up like for me I looked too young so a lot of the girls wern't into me and then when I got older and they realised I was older than I looked I was too old for some of them. this can happen in a flash one minute you are too young the next too old. course it is not like that with everyone but some people are very attached to their numbers like I met this one girl and she was really into me until I told her I was like 30 something whatever it was and then she totally changed and I had to ask her to find out she had an ex who had a kid that was older than her. So basically in her mind anyone who is older has a kid regardless of whether they do. oh well saved me the bother no doubt but it was quite hurtful at the time like she just started avoiding me the moment I told her my age. it is really terrible what they have done in the media with all these stereotyping of demographics just coz you are 30 something doesn't mean you are ancient. I'm a lot younger in spirit than some 20 year olds. a lot of it has to do with health aswell it effects how old you look alot like Markus Rothkranz who is a raw foodist looks quite young. course he doesn't do it to look younger that is just one of the effects. think it was for health reasons. (someone should tell gaga to read his stuff maybe it would help with her pains)

Gaga never targeted herself at the young demographic, she was always pretty "adult" in her attitude.  She's also not afraid of maturing, or doing non-pop activities that many people thing of as "old" like C2C.  Wheras Katy Perry specifically marketed her brand of bubblegum pop straight to pre-teens.  So even though KP is older than Gaga her work has been targeted "younger" by about 10 years on average I'd say.

And also let's not hide behind the bush, Gaga hasn't had a massive hit since 2011 arguably 2013 so the GP associates her with the past and her music with nostalgia so not hearing about her everyday like they do with selena or whatever makes them think she's older and of the past when they do hear of her.

Literally today I was having a conversation with one of my guy friends about how he hasn't heard about Gaga thought she was in her late 40s and I corrected him by saying she's only 31 

he was shook when i told him she was only 22 when she released Just Dance and i told him how next year will mark 10 years in the Music Industry 

but most likely the way she dressed more mature probably throws people off and think she's older than 30

She has features that make her seem older and her voice as well. She doesn't have cutesie doll-like features. She has a very angular, pointed set of features that she typically puts a lot of makeup on. And her voice is very classical as well.

 

tbh I find it astounding that I'm as old as she was when she first became a megastar. Idk how I'd manage to cope with that. So I also think fame matured her

I don't know if I would go so far as to say she's "old", but I would say that she doesn't seem to try and appeal to the general public, and pre-teen audience anymore. Her music doesn't even sound like the **** on Top 40, and she's not trying to.

This isn't how 20 year old pop stars generally portray themselves in the media. It's not surprising that people are looking at a pop star that looks like this:

to me she doesn't look 30+ in those images? she looks like a real woman in her mid 20s behind the looks. such as in the vogue cover you've provided here. ariana just looks 12 to be honest. her face and body is real. that's what you'd expect a woman to look like in that age range.

I think the point @Bebe is trying to make, is that the image and clothing she presented are vastly different from her contemporaries. A celebrities facial features do not have to match how old the GP thinks they are, its the image they present. The only time Gaga has ever presented a somewhat youthful image towards the GP,  was during The Fame. She has continued to stray farther and farther away from that, especially with Cheek to Cheek and Joanne.

 

(And Ariana Grande has had the same hairstyle since day one.)

No shade to Gaga, but it's true. That is why people ragged on the Superbowl performance, saying she is a legacy artist.

for me gaga always looked her age or maybe a bit older (2-3 years) but thats ok and normal some look younger some people older.. Thats because she never dressed like a teenie. My sister also never looked young like ariana when she was 24. she looked more like gaga because how she dressed etc.  when my sis was 16 she already looked like 19-20.

there are people that look younger and there are people that look older.

Ariana looks like 16 to me and selena too.
i am 21 but i look like 17 maybe.
