Harry 26,836
I'm so happy Lana won over Taylor, especially as Taylor made a COMPLETE fool out of herself with that performance. From what I saw on Twitter, she was absolutely torn apart by the viewers. Painfully flat and a terrible attempt at pulling off dark theatrics with a bubblegum song like IKYWT. Embarrassing. Two bum award shows in a row lol. But King Justin completely slayed and it shows with Mirrors shooting to #3 on iTunes, he benefited most out of the performers. Both S&T and Mirrors could've made it into the top ten if he did some sort of medley but ah well I'm satisfied.
Math 92
is Mirrors the official 2nd single?
SomethingMore 1,701
Lol I wouldn't bank on it, 1D have it in the bag. I'd like to think he could make it back into the top 5 but I'll just be happy to see him on my TV again. He is #2 on iTunes with Mirrors right now. So hopefully at least top 5! Totally disagree with you and I'm guessing much of the public do, I thought Taylor did an amazing job at performing and showed a much more edgier side to herself; trust me I'm no Swift fan but really liked the s-xier side to her. And her live performance is currently the highest charted of all par one performances from the Brits last night, even higher than Justin's..... JustAHolyFool 1
How does it feel knowing I was right about Lana winning Best International Female, everyone? ;) I didn't watch the show, I just looked up the results later and I actually clapped my hands, wiggled my feet and did a fangirl squee and I'm so not that kinda person! Glad to see common sense prevailed at the BRITS committee and maybe the awards aren't such a joke now (maybe just half a joke). I'm tired of always making delusional predictions, so this gave me a massive boost! Just think, if International Album was still a category, I wonder if Lana would have been nominated and won for that too? It'll be great to see her album in stores with a "BRIT award winner" sticker on it and it'll hopefully give her amazing sales over the next few weeks, which will be increased even more when she tours the UK in May and the video for Cola gets released. If the album can chart in the top 100 for a year and a half straight, it'll be such a victory for decent music. I was so pleased for Lana aswel, was a fantastic decision and shows true talent won through in the end, but she already has a Brit sticker on her album, including the paradise edition as she won international breakthrough at the Brits in 2012 with Born to Die and as this was only a release it has still retained the sticker, (i work in a CD shop lol)
craig 680
Basically, the trend of rewarding the most successful international artist IN THE UK (Kylie, Scissor Sisters, Lana) won out over the trend of giving the award to the person invited to perform (Kylie, Gaga, Rihanna). Her vocal was undeniably sub-par and that "big" note she tried to hit was completely flat. Maybe "much" of the public did but I searched "taylor swift" on Twitter following the performance and what I saw was not positive. All it did for me was show her mediocre stage presence as a pop performer and represent how much she has sold out tbh. Highest charted of all the performances? No. Had minimal impact on her iTunes performance as well compared to some others. 01. One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks) - One Direction - Before: 0.7891. After Performance: 1.0000. Now: 1.0000 (+0.2109) 02. Mirrors - Justin Timberlake - Before: 0.1367. After Performance: 0.5938. Now: 0.8438 (+0.7071) 05. Only Love - Ben Howard - Before: 0.0288. After Performance: 0.4062. Now: 0.4686 (+0.4398) 08. I Knew You Were Trouble. - Taylor Swift - Before: 0.2578. After Performance: 0.3203. Now: 0.3229 (+0.0651) Not exactly a showstopper. Even Suit and Tie increased almost as much as IKYWT (+0.0626) and he didn't even perform it.

Sadly you have misread my comment, her LIVE performance from the Brits which is available to download via itunes (as is the performances by all of the acts from last nights show) is the 2 nd highest charting on itunes, currently at no. 39, only beaten by Ben Howard at no. 36, Justin's isn't even in the top 100. So the general public must like it more than everyone else's, even more impressive is the fact that IKYWT has been alround for ages now.

Justin's iTunes performance is better because it shows the public actually got tuned into the (8 minute long) SONG, whereas Taylor's performance hanging around in the low 30s just suggest support from fans, unlike Adele's performance of SLY in 2011 which actually charted higher than the real song. Now THAT was impressive and showed an interest. Taylor's live version will soon disappear.
craig 680
Mirrors would predictably get the biggest bounce because it was new, while Swift did a song past its prime on the chart. Not as silly as doing WANEGBT at the Grammies though.
Jase 13,065
I just found Taylor's performance to be really awkward and tryhard. Way too overproduced and silly

Well we will have to agree to disagree, but the numbers don't lie, only time will tell if mirrors hangs around the top ten for as long as Taylor has managed to do or will it leave as quick as Suit and Tie did? Taylor has actually has more of a surge in sales btw than you stated as yes she is at no.8 with IKYWT but that is the deluxe version the version from the standard album is also at no. 24.
