I mean, I understand your point of view, but Beyonce's contribution to Telephone and X-Tina's to MLJ are minimal in comparison to Britney's contribution to S&S. It's a completely different scenario.

Yeah, she contributed as much as Fergie on a typical BEP hit.

will.iam really needs a female singer on the track.

Basically. Alone he is doomed.

I think it deserves to be called Britney's #1 just as much as will.i.am's. Not only is it having a better chart run than wil.i.am's latest #1, it's also already outsold it in less than 2 months since its release. Britney catapulted the song to levels it never would of reached with just will.i.am alone. For God's sake, some people think HE's the one featured and she's the lead. :rip: I mean, I understand your point of view, but Beyonce's contribution to Telephone and X-Tina's to MLJ are minimal in comparison to Britney's contribution to S&S. It's a completely different scenario.

She just sings in the chorus (with is very limited) and doesn't provide one verse. How is it her song? Anyone who thinks will.i.am's the featured one is dumb as a post. Maybe people thought it was a throwback to the more s-xist times when a male featured artist would sing more than the lead female artist? I don't think it's a completely different scenario at all - any girl off the street could have sung Britney's part (that voice isn't even hers). Tulisa Contostavlos co-wrote the song, which was meant to be on her debut album and then Will waltzed into the studio, stole the track and re-recorded it and added Britney's albeit processed vocals. When I heard about this and heard it back and realised that Britney's voice sounded just like Tulisa's. It's a scandal. I've never liked Will but this was the final nail in the coffin for me. As if it wasn't enough that he was the untalented Cheryl Cole's manager, he can now add "thief" to his resume. And this man gets to be a judge of people's singing abiliity on The Voice?

As for Britney, believe it or not, I'm a fan. But only when she produces decent work, which in my opinion. S&S is definitely not, but I don't think it counts as features mean next to nothing to me. Unfortunately, Britney is being used to make other artists big, first with Rihanna's S&M remix and now Will and it doesn't shape up well for her future work. It saddens me when Britney's fans will take anything they can get and call it a masterpiece these days. It's like In The Zone and Blackout never existed when they rave about crap like S&S. I don't get its popularity at all. Whoever can dance to that montone bore-fest is a stronger woman than I.

Well, I can understand your point of view. You don't have to like the song. But my point is the following: I think it should be considered one of her #1's simply because it is clear to most people that Britney's part, no matter how limited, is the reason the song was successful. will.i.am has better singles than S&S yet this was the only one to catch on WW. Why? Britney Spears. Based on name alone. It could of been ANY other person singing her verse, even Tulisa, and it wouldn't have been as successful, even in the UK (seeing as its already outsold Tulisa's lead single and her last song barely made it into the Top 20 and her album tanked). And, trust me, most Britney fans only root for the song because it's successful and a big hit, not because they really like it (even though I do :music:). It's far from a masterpiece and her fans know that.

Britney Spears makes Scream & Shout. Without her the song wouldn't be anywhere. "Britney, b---h" alone is a fundamental part of the song. Hard to imagine "Tulisa, b---h" doing anyone anything.

Glad to see a new song finally occupy the #1 spot and other new ones finally gathering steam. Even weirder that they'll mostly urban tracks. I really hope Gaga's timed her first single to perfection. Timing is going to be crucial this year.

Ugh that godawful 50 Cent song is #1 in the midweeks, Justin at #3 behind S&S

Though there is only 4k copies between all three of them so hopefully Justin can maintain his lead and nab it  It will likely just faaall and fall after this week (except for maybe a video).

I am actually really surprised at how well Die Young has held up.

Hope Justin can hang onto #1 long enough to get him to the top by Sunday!

Has Bey been officially confirmed for the BRITs? Would love to see her slay again here and a performance of her lead single would be massive and would do wonders for it imo.
