At the beginning she was being very private, she didn't open up about her family, friends, love life... She managed to keep these things secret. And then around BTW she started to really talk about this : Inside the Outside, the interview with Oprah Winfrey in the apartment where she grew up... I think her family started to agree to this. She has talked a lot about her private life since then but I don't think she ever crossed the boundaries, it seems to be things people agreed to and it's never serious or too personal.
