FreeAsMyHair13 379
I wonder if the song is intentionally basic and vapid to demonstrate that Allie has lost her artistic integrity and sold out by transitioning to pop? Just an idea... Kind of like the John Legend band/song in La La Land?
ferretti 5,808
I heard her sing the song like five times today. It's fine, but it's no hit single. It's a fine album track. Reminded me of sorta basic early Britney, but less catchy. Ha. disco stick tester, inquire within

Sure it's gonna be cool to get some more fun bops, but... It feels like she's just gonna be playing someone not that far from herself. We only know tidbits from the filming so I'm not gonna draw conclusions, but I fear they're trying to make it seem it too modern with trendy pop music and as such won't make for such a serious viewing. Idk.

Ironically, those songs will probably be the most popular amongst fans even in that situation lol.

But in the film it's meant to show how Ryan Gosling has essentially "sold out" and given up on his dreams because it's not really jazz, it's just easily digestible pop music.
