I honestly thought some of her early "over the top" looks were just silly. For example, I *LOVE* the way she looked when she performed Paparazzi at the '09 Vmas, but she had many other looks that same night, and some of them were just like...why?

I honestly think she's still just as unpredicatable now. She pulls off very diverse looks, It's just that the "weirdo" factor has left. It's not a bad thing! She looks stunning  most of the time now!

I swear, she's 100% GAGA when she's in Europe or NYC. Then she goes to LA and starts dressing as a basic white girl

This X 1000

Yes, and it makes me sad. I loved being shocked, surprised and confused by her looks. I loved to come up with the real/our own meanings about her art with my monster peers. It was fun, and this whole Joanne era was so toned down it wasn't lit until John Wayne.

So glad the LG6 era is already here.

I don't see how this is trying to recapture TFM though? Things like huge heels, black leather, blonde hair, eye appliques and shoulder pads have been part of her aesthetic since the fame era. It doesn't read as a copy+paste to me, just more like a continuation/moving of the "GAGA" look into a more mature/streamlined space.

I also don't think she's trying to be "shocking" anymore, just a little avant garde. The only thing that was somewhat "shocking" in recent memory is the tentacle in her mouth at Coachella.

I don't see how that differs from what I said. She is indeed trying to recapture that image which she sort of abandoned since C2C. It's just that this continuation feels more like a less quality version of the old one, rather than mature or streamlined. Maybe it's because Nicola Formichetti left, because since then, her outfits never were as catchy as before.

This I do not agree with. The mere fact that she can easily regurgitate the names of every single person involved in the creation of each of these "shocking" things from her costumes and videos to her performances proves that she was that personally invested in all of them. She definitely was at the head of everything she did in the "wild" years. I feel like the toning down of her image seems more forced instead.

My thoughts exactly! :applause:

First of all, I don't think it has ever been gimmicks, It's just her creativity running loose.

Because she has always let the music be in the center and lets her music transform her. But with Joanne for example. The Main focus was to heal people from the inside. So wouldn't it look wierd if she was in the Million Reasons phase and wore a meat dress genre of clothing?:ladyhaha:. I get that pure healing wibe from The Cure as well. But will she ever stop bieng crazy?

Time tells and it all depends on the music
