Is a music video enough to bring The Cure into top 20?

Yeah, I'm not convinced that the song will provide some exceptional, eye catching, head line grabbing music video.

The song, while good, don't get me wrong, isn't anything innovative IMO, it's just a bop.

The charts don't matter, what matters is that you enjoy the song for yourself.

But, in relation to charts? The song has to be strong and unique, just like the video (see all Fame Monster singles)

Actually I think Gaga now understands the need for visuals, Million Reasons was great in content but wasn't too beneficial promotion-wise, which explains why she packed John Wayne with visuals. It might not be as shocking as Alejandro or Telephone was, but it's going to be a beautiful one, I guess.

Like I said above, I can enjoy a song regardless of its chart position (I don't get why some fans can't because they essentially sound the same). I only want commercial success for her so that her label allows her to invest in more music, videos, performances, tour dates which all lead to an expansion of artistic outcome, which now affects the quality of her work.

I mean without commercial success do you think artists are able to purchase the materials needed to execute their work? People are getting paid and materials are being bought.

As long as it shows gaga doing witch spells and offering animals as sacrifices to find "The Cure" then I'm good with it <3

Oh I don't disagree. I think she needs money to give me the crazy visuals and stuff I used to enjoy when she put out.

I legit feel like everything after Million Reasons was legit fan service, just showing she can still do stuff.

John Wayne...I can still make videos.

Superbowl...I can still perform.

The Cure...I can still make radio friendly music.

Now package all that up and give me the next album plz

G.U.Y. literally had one TV performance which was the David Letterman show. I think the last one which was promoted properly was Million Reasons.

You'll have to forgive me. It's been so long since a single has been treated properly that I've forgotten.

I think, if my memory serves, the last one may have been Applause.

She had single, single cover, remixes EP, tv promo, radio int.

The only negative would be the random release date. If we count that then MTN was the last one. :toofunny:

Actually Million Reasons was promoted properly.

It was performed on all Dive Bar Tour dates, SNL, Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, X Factor UK, France radio stations, Japan SMAP x SMAP, Alan Carr show, Carpool karaoke, American Music Awards, Superbowl, Coachella, Royal Variety Show in the UK.

Oh she performed it live enough, I simply miss remix EPs.

Sigh, I guess we have the one.

I don't care about chart to like a song. Charting doesn't make me like a track more or less. Some songs are just good, others are not, for my ears. But regarding a music video, many silly, literally silly songs get silly music videos and get famous, but as for Gaga, she's always the kind of artist that is known for over-the-top music videos, so to suddenly release a song that is lighter than what she got everyone used to and a music video that isn't that impressive or shocking, it wouldn't really be as admired as her past works.
